damn that's very low indeed and looks odd. If its really the 2017 LG tv edid, DV must look VERY dark compared to HDR10 on this TV...
I tried my rpi5 too & it gave same results, I am gonna chuck it to maybe incorrect implementation in the rpi utilities or maybe the TV sends the wrong value ? The sure answer would be from Vertex 2.
Here's a snippet from a DV calibration file (from sonoftumble) for this generation that I used in the past, Tmax looks normal for this TV (so does the
rtings HDR plot from
rtings tests).
# Dolby Vision User Display Configuration File
# Generated by 5.9.2.59 on 6/19/2019
# DM Version:
PictureMode = 2
Tmax = 759.590301184834
Tmin = 1E-11

Hi, I recently bought a Sony X700. I am testing it with some of the test files particularly the eagle beak file and I am not sure if it's in LLDV or TV-LED. When it shows the chroma weight there is no change from the original shown before.
which TV ?
My LG C2 have a bug and Chroma weight is not working regardless of tv-led / player-led. It doesn't even work with the internal player.
Its a Panasonic GX800, a VA LCD from 2019.

I dont know much about calibration (i paid someone to calibrate my TV) but maybe in TV-LED, only the internal TV DV configuration is used and the EDID target brightness is ignored?? And the EDID is only useful to the player when it does LLDV?
That would explain the odd result I see when I use high brightness TV-LED edid on my cheap 600nits vizio TV.

DV calibration for LG TVs generates a file that you can load onto the TV. Although not recommended, I tried that calibration file in the past on my OLED. The Tmax in it must have been measured via calman & other required equipment.
Your theory that EDID info/LLDV player may make sense as those two entries are below Low Latency ...
Low Latency: Standard + Low Latency
Target Max Luminance: 350 cd/m^2
Target Min Luminance: 0.00099200 cd/m^2

That is how it's supposed to work, the EDID is only used by external HDMI devices for detection/player-led.
Internally it's using the config file which is why it's always been preferred to have TV-led playback.

L o l, I thought that’s what EDID was reporting based on all the previous posts, back to square 0. It must be hidden in the TVs firmware. I don’t recall seeing anything in service menu or ez adjust of my E7.

Since it's quite a old TV, it might not support TV-LED.

Ah that sucks. Am I missing a lot if I can only use LLDV?

It's apparently 810 nits AFAIK. 990 nits for the G2.
Mine measures around 815-825 nits IIRC.

Interesting, maybe get calibration commands can tell us something. I didn’t calibrate my E7, I applied someone else’s calibration file. I’ll browse and see if there’s something there I can use on my 2017 E7 (nope I get asyncio.exceptions.TimeoutError, most likely doesn't work with older models).

Ok thanks I'll check those out. I saw Vincent's video saying how the TV-LED is better because the colors are more accurate. But I have also seen comments here that that video doesn't mean much. Is TV-LED more accurate for the colors or does that video not matter?
