Does TrueHD Atmos break kodi on your end?
any lossless 7.1 audio(DTS-X/DTSHD/FLAC/PCM ) seem to cause the same issue for me.

No other issues on my end. Only issue is with DTS tracks sync and the endless Kodi scrapping, lol.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Damn. I thought this was a Plex issue, but it also happens on the x800. I went back and replaced my 1536kbps tracks with 768kbps tracks. Is there a better solution to this?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 7:12 pm
...And the FFMPEG EAC3 1536kbps tracks stutter just like on my x800 7.1 EAE encoded tracks are fine.
More reasons to collect physical media. 2019 Shield TV Pro.

Reset if my tv lg oled e8 2018 900 nits , DV is ok with dune real vision ?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 10:53 pmI'm not sure. When I force LLDV, they certainly don't work with a 1000nits edid + 1000 nits rpu but when I use the A95 1600nits TV-LED edid, they work but the image looks a bit strange.susanstone2022 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 9:07 pmSo if I do want DV, Apple TV is a better choice than other players?
L2 trims typically are 100nits, 600nits, 1000nits. Does DV actually use L2 trims at all for 2000nits TV (assuming it will use 1000nits)?
Since the colorist can use the trims to raise brightness, it would make sense to always use them regardless of the display edid.
but yeah, the best you can do is to use a TV-LED device (atv shield or sony/oppo).
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
We can choose either TV or player led through menu settings on Oppo, on ATV there’s no settings. Is there a way to know that TV led is being used ?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 10:53 pm… but yeah, the best you can do is to use a TV-LED device (atv shield or sony/oppo).

Strange, they work fine on PLEX C2 and x700 but not on Kodi and x800m2.
1024kbps work btw and I added an option to specify the bitrate in the next dovi_scripts version.
Well, it's the player always processing the metadata but yes, it should be fine on 2016-2022 LG TVs.
The player should always use TV-LED when the TV supports both.

Thanks & sorry, maybe my Q wasn’t clear. Using what method or test can we check that a player is using TV led, and ditto for the TV (in my case LG 2017 E7 OLED). The reason I ask, is I find the Oppo when set to TV led, there are too many handshakes & in the end I have no clue what is being used: TV or player led.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 12:57 pm…The player should always use TV-LED when the TV supports both.

you can use this test file. Unless you have a C2, L2 Trim Chroma Weight will only work in TV-LED on cmv2.9 players.aboulfad wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 1:07 pmThanks & sorry, maybe my Q wasn’t clear. Also, I think that if you press 3-4 times on the green or blue button on your remote, it should display if the signal is RGB 8bit (tv-led) or 422 12bits (player led).

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
That is super helpful, thank you ! I had Oppo set to TV-Led w these tests. Using LG Cinema Picmode, DV cal profile from sonoftumble + 2/20 points settings.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 1:14 pmyou can use this test file. - Testfile: Not sure how to interpret result, need to watch Vincent's video w that eagle/hawk. I do see a clear difference between original & no-trim-chroma-weight. I tried my best to take photos:

- Buttons: Pressing 3 or 4 times on either green or blue buttons sadly doesn't do anything. I'll search on the net as this is the first I learn about this.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
yep, that's how the eagle beak is supposed to look when Chroma Weight is working and this is exactly the bug described in Vincent video.
L2 CW is rarely used by colorists though.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Seems that the out of sync issues I get with DTS tracks in Kodi is only when Dolby Vision is used, HDR only and 1080p titles with DTS sound play fine, without sync issues. Installed the Plex mod also and manifests the same. Only option I got now is to try to get DTS coded enabled after rooting as I suspect there is some DTS transcoding done by Kodi for DTS, as the TV cannot decode it.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
This is so twisted for us mere mortals, do we conclude that on my LG E7 & Oppo set to "TV led", that indeed it is TV led bcoz the eagle's beak with "no chroma weight" is meant to look as in my photo. Gotta now find that video from Vincent, oh this one: TV led vs player ledRESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 3:39 pmyep, that's how the eagle beak is supposed to look when Chroma Weight is working and this is exactly the bug described in Vincent video.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
yeah, I gave up on lossless audio. I'm still happy with DV MKV + EC3 audio, it's as stable as Plex(TS) plus SRT/SUP subs seem to work well. Resuming movies/shows work too as far as I can tell.azreil24 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 3:48 pmSeems that the out of sync issues I get with DTS tracks in Kodi is only when Dolby Vision is used, HDR only and 1080p titles with DTS sound play fine, without sync issues. The audio selection using the Plex addon seems inverted though. My movies all have lossless audio + EC3 and if I want the EC3 to be selected by Kodi, I need to have Plex configured to play the lossless track.
Yes, the LLDV bug described in that Vincent video is the L2 Chroma Weight not working on cmv2.9 devices. Turn on player-led on your oppo and CW will no longer work.aboulfad wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 4:41 pmThis is so twisted for us mere mortals, do we conclude that on my LG E7 & Oppo set to "TV led", that indeed it is TV led bcoz the eagle's beak with "no chroma weight" is meant to look as in my photo. Would this be able to play MKVs on my C9 that are Profile 7 FEL?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 1:31 pmYou have to sideload Kodi in developer mode but it's not too complicated to do and its pretty nice to finally have DV MKV support on LG TVs.

I see the discussions currently that lossless audio might not mix with TrueHD... if so, I'll pass on this setup because I have way too much lossless audio in my library. At that point, I may as well just convert to m2ts for special viewings and watch from my Oppo, right?
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Yes, oppo and all bluray UHD players change the PRU in TV-LED mode. they change the data from the RPU and then it goes to the TV.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 5:45 pmok, I'm starting to understand what's going on with the different RPU responses on players in TV-LED and in LLDV. It seems the x700/x800m2 almost completely ignores L1 and always tone map to the TV edid target.
Shield tv does not touch the PRU.
I will show in a video soon how it looks like in the video data from the RPU.
It would be nice to decode back from the binary code of the RPU video to see what changes there specifically. But I don't know how to do that
