ASUS BW-16D1HT Issue?

Post by allavallava » Sun Dec 10, 2023 8:41 am

Hello all! I recently fried my motherboard and replaced it with a lower model. After replacing it, my drive stopped working... I put a disc in the tray, and automatically get "please insert disc". I opened MakeMKV, put a disc in, and see the disc animation go, then it goes blank. I reinstalled the drivers, and ran the flash tool... Here is my info... Did I do something wrong or perhaps the time has come to replace my drive as the years have caught up...

Thanks in advance!

Did you try with 1 disc or several? Does the drive work with a regular DVD or with some other program with a music CD?

Yeah, I tried all discs and I don’t even hear it spin…. That might be the sign…

I would agree not hearing it spin a disc is a bad sign.

Note how the disk label is when you put the disk in and close the drive. Wait a minute then eject the disk. If it is in the exact same position the spindle is burned out.

Already replaced one of these drives (well two but the first one was to old to be flashed with LD firmware) because of this issue. Also these drives are CRAP for UHD's. Some work, some don't. Cant backup all my phase 1 marvel box set UHD's with this drive. Need to find something better.

Oh wow.. Never would have thought of that... Well, never had trouble like this before in my lifetime... Tried it and saw the disc did not move at all. Looking at all the options now on getting a replacement. I keep seeing Pioneer is the reliable one but expensive...

Where are you located? In which country? There might be affordable options.
