Release 1.17.5 starts having hash errors on UHD

Post by beandog »

I installed 1.17.5 and tried ripping a few discs, and I've had three UHD discs that now have hash errors when ripping them. Specifically, Sonic 1, Sonic 2, and Spider-Verse 1.

I've tested this version and can duplicate it both on Windows and Linux.

There aren't any problems on 1.17.4 though, so it's just this release.

That error suggests the optical drive was unable to correctly read the disc.

I think I've only ripped two UHDs on 1.17.5, but both ripped without errors. One was a dual layer UHD, the other was a triple-layer disc.

I would agree with you, but 1.17.4 works just fine.

What does that imply? Does that mean a month or two ago, using 1.17.4, you were able to rip one or more of the discs that now fail? Or does that mean today (or yesterday, or sometime after the failures started) you have uninstalled 1.17.5, reinstalled 1.17.4, and successfully completed a rip?

If the former, I encourage you to do the later. If the later, then I would hope Mike (the program's author) would be interested in more details.

I'm a bit skeptical since the release of 1.17.5 hasn't created a noticeable spike in 'MakeMKV can't read my disc' forum posts. That is not to say, however, that there isn't something particular about your system that 1.17.5 tickles in the wrong way.

The second one. I tried 1.17.5, and some had hash issues (not all, just a few). I switched back to 1.17.4 same day, tried them, and they worked there.

I can provide more details if needed, I'd love to help out if I can.

Unfortunately I have the same problem. I have 2 LG drives and always open 2 instances. In one instance this works perfectly, in the second I get read errors. This was not the case in 1.17.4.

Is Release 1.17.4 still available for download?
I'm on 1.17.5 and just had two discs with hash errors and I'd love to try the .4

So I tried 1.17.4 on a couple of discs that were having hash errors and still got the hash errors so I don't think 1.17.5 is the problem.
