I followed the "IMGBURN setting" section of the first post; when I started the burn one info prompt was this:

Code: Select all

I 21:39:57 Hardware Defect Management Active: No
Does this just mean that "Hardware Defect Management" was not needed when I initialized the burn?

No hardware management is default. Since the disc quality is going south recently you should use it. Be aware that it reduces the amount of space that can be burned to a disc. My advice: Store on hard disc and not on optical media in the future.

EDIT: I think you didn't follow the guide correctly. You should have the guide open and follow the guide in parallel.

I found out what I did wrong; I did not jump to the "Creation of the Spare Area"-section of the guide. Now I got the right message:

Code: Select all

I 00:20:36 Hardware Defect Management Active: Yes
In review (for Pioneer BDR-UD04):
  1. Follow "IMGBURN setting"-section.
  2. Skip "Special drive settings" and "2. LITE-ON"-section.
  3. Follow "Creation of the Spare Area" and "Burn the media"-section.

Be patient. If it works you have a perfect copy.
