ImgBurn Error - "Power On, Reset, or Bus Device Reset Occurred"

Post by Apollo11 » Tue Nov 07, 2023 5:55 pm

Hi,

Since my application to join the ImgBurn forums hasn't gone through yet I'll ask here as it concerns my Pioneer BDR-UD04 drive.

I'm having a lot of trouble writing an ISO file for archiving purposes to a BD-R DL M-Disc (50GB) using ImgBurn. The discs are all Verbatim discs.
I get a bunch of "Power On, Reset, or Bus Device Reset Occurred" messages. So far it has prevented me from writing the ISO file to two different M-Discs of the same capacity (the ISO file is less than 50GB).

I have checked that the USB cable for my Pioneer BDR-UD04 is not loose. Windows 10 has no problem detecting the drive or the disc in it. And yes; my disc drive can also burn to M-Disc, Blu-Ray and DVD.

Can someone assist me? I don't want to risk using up any more M-Discs before I have a better idea of what's wrong.

Below is the ImgBurn log file for the event in question:

Make sure the drive gets enough power. Use the rear USB-C of a desktop PC or use a powered USB hub.

In addition check that. Disc quality has gone south recently:

I am using the rear USB-C port on my desktop. I will try the link you provided.

Do I really need an account on the linked-to forum just to view the screenshots? I don't want to set up an account just to resolve one issue.

I don't think so. This should be possible as a guest.

EDIT: Yes, you need to be a member to see the pictures.

There's no other guide without this requirement for this case?

It doesn't hurt to open an account even if you never come back.

Under the "Special Drive Settings" in the linked-to guide I can't find the right "Drive Utility" software for my BDR-UD04 (I searched with Ctrl+F) and didn't find anything that seemed to match.

What should I do?

The UD04 doesn't have a utility. You are supposed to use the spare areas as outlined in the guide. Any of the utilities for the other drives wouldn't help either in your case.

Ok, should I follow the "2. LITE-ON" section too? The "Drive" option under "Tools" in ImgBurn is grayed out for me.

Nah, you don't have a LiteON. Do the main steps and forget about the manufacturer options.

Ok, thanks! Will return once results are in. I can afford new Verbatim M-Discs; I just don't wan't to buy them when not necessary.

Can I still use the ISO file I created earlier that I intended to write (and still do)?
