Newbie but spent an hour or two searching and haven't found the answer. Please let me know if I missed something obvious!
Billycar11 offers 3 Pioneer drives pre-flashed for UHD. Aside from the more expensive ones looking better, there doesn't seem to be any performance difference.
I have what I think is a modest library of around 100 DVDs and maybe a dozen BR, with UHD in the future. Would like to convert all to MKV. No other use case for the drive. Likely to use MacOS, but possibly Linux.
Is there a compelling reason to choose other than the BDR-212? Better reliability, longer life, fewer errors, ...?
Many thanks, this is a totally amazing resource.
Which Billycar11 drive?

Re: Which Billycar11 drive?
The 212 is definitely the best value
The s13 ubk is quiteter and pioneer does advertise it as more reliable
The s13 ux is even quiteter and uses higher quality components and lower resistance wires for the cables.
I did open one up and the wires say for premium model compared to the ubk but they are the same platform just some parts swapped out and more sound deadening.
