Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hi! Is there any explanation of the 7-5-3 workflow (playing FEL files with MPC)? I assume there's no way for windows to actually launch the display into dolby vision, so is this somehow showing the dynamic metadata using regular HDR output?
I also haven't been able to get the workflow to launch yet, I'm getting error messages (see image link).
It's possible I don't have MPC installed correctly, I downloaded the portable version and put it in the tools folder. But not sure if it matters whether I use the 64 or 32 bit version, or what the name for the MPC folder should be.
Thank you!

My point just above your post. Tell me why you are going through all these hassles.dapope wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 12:04 amHi! Only FEL, the dynamic metadata are not used and no it won't trigger DV but you can watch in HDR10 or SDR.dapope wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 12:04 amHi! It looks like your input(p7 ST I guess?) failed to be demuxed with dovi_tool.
here's the tool pack: https://mega.nz/file/VedxEIBB#bfjgWeSpr ... NCIC372rQQ

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I don't provide support, it's in VapourSynth: https://github.com/OpusGang/awsmfunc/bl ... e.py#L1905
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Great Thanks that fixed it my only other issue is my Elf copy. I've attached the XML file. I've done other movies and they work greatRESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 9:52 pmok your file is cmv4.0 but only for the first two frames so you should remove it completely.
I fixed your file but it still has CMV4.0 and because the original was just for two frames, my fixed rpu generated static L3 metadata: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Nvixsu ... sp=sharing
L2 trim pass seems fine in the fixed version:

there's no L2 error on my copy of Elf (p5 iTunes)...Iam2smart wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 5:49 amGreat Thanks that fixed it my only other issue is my Elf copy. I've attached the XML file. I've done other movies and they work great

why do you share the XML instead of the rpu? maybe you're using an old version of dovi_meta(tool that converts rpu to XML)?
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
That was the issue I updated dovi_meta tool from version 0.2.0 to 0.2.1 now I dont have any errors and everything works. Thanks for the helpRESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 1:08 pmthere's no L2 error on my copy of Elf (p5 iTunes)...Iam2smart wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 5:49 amGreat Thanks that fixed it my only other issue is my Elf copy. Thanks. I will try it out.quietvoid wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 1:10 amI don't provide support, it's in VapourSynth: https://github.com/OpusGang/awsmfunc/bl ... e.py#L1905
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
When taking FEL screenshots with DoViBaker in AvsPmod, is there a good way to tone map to SDR? I've tried the default generated script as well as applying the 100-nit L2 trim to DoViBaker through "trimPq=2081, targetMaxNits=100, targetMinNits=1". Both look too washed out compared to CAH's 100-nit conversion. https://slow.pics/c/l7iEtcS3

I guess you would have to add libplacebo in the script.axeyou wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 12:48 amWhen taking FEL screenshots with DoViBaker in AvsPmod, is there a good way to tone map to SDR? You can use 7-5-3 (madVR +MPC) which has the best HDR to SDR tone mapping anyway.
Code: Select all
LoadPlugin("D:\DoVi_Scripts\tools\DoViBaker_x64.dll")
LoadPlugin("D:\DoVi_Scripts\tools\dgdecnv_242\DGDecodeNV.dll")
LoadPlugin("D:\DoVi_Scripts\tools\avs_libplacebo.dll")
bl = DGSource("D:\\P7_BL.dgi")
el = DGSource("D:\\P7_EL.dgi")
DoViBaker(bl, el, rpu= "D:\\P7RPU_FEL.bin")
libplacebo_Tonemap(src_csp=1, dst_csp=0, dynamic_peak_detection=true, tone_mapping_function=0, tone_mapping_mode=1)

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I'm trying to inject HDR10+ metadata into an HR10 remux. However, the HDR10+ metadata is delayed by 24 frames.
How do I sync them? I'm familiar with syncing with dovi_tool, but I'm afraid it won't work with HDR10+.

Thanks, RESET! libplacebo looks much better!RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 1:53 pmI guess you would have to add libplacebo in the script.

Do you also happen to know how to apply it to BL only? It looks like it doesn't accept a DGSource("BL.dgi") as input:
Code: Select all
LoadPlugin("D:\DoVi_Scripts\tools\dgdecnv\DGDecodeNV.dll")
LoadPlugin("D:\DoVi_Scripts\tools\avs_libplacebo.dll")
DGSource("D:\Movies\\00009\00009_BL.dgi")
# libplacebo_Tonemap: failed uploading data to the GPU! Trying alternative RGB32 conversion. Attempt failed !
libplacebo_Tonemap(src_csp=1, dst_csp=0, dynamic_peak_detection=true, scene_threshold_high=-1)

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
it works fine on my end
btw I added support in the latest dovi_scripts workflow 7-1 for SDR tone mapping line 119 set tonemap=0

Thanks again, RESET! I guessed I just hit some bug. Restarted AvsPmod and it worked fine : )
Appreciate your help!
