Meh. I discovered that my internal drive on my old PC works perfectly, so I'm in no rush for Pioneer support now.
Read your PM.
You're confusing me with someone else. I have a BDR-XD08U, for which no solution currently exists.
Yes it does if your firmware is older than Dec. 2022. But I assumed you have 209. Let me know the firmware date of your XD08U fits or if it is among tha drives that can't be fixed yet.

It isn't. It has the dreaded new firmware.

Thanks for the PM, Coopervid. I'm so new I'm not allowed to PM yet. Would you mind pointing me to the particular file I need? Thanks.

The BDR-209EBK is an awesome drive and absolutely makeMKV safe, incl FW1.54.
You can downgrade from v1.54 to previous versions (did it myself) and also crossflash to the BDR-211 v1.53 to read UHD discs (again, done by myself).
One important thing, don't crossflash to v1.54 of the BDR-211, you lose downgrade, crossflash, lose the ability to play UHD with a Leawo Blu-ray player (according to a different forum, other programs may be also affected) and lose the "safety" of makeMKV.
Hi Tom886,
which tool did you use to flash the BDR-209EBK to BDR-211, please?
Thanks
Check your PM.

Sorry, I was absent for a few days, so didn't see your message.
I believe you got help already, and I have to admit, I am not sure whether it is allowed to share links to another forum.
But I can tell you, it's available on a Polish forum, however, not public.

Cheers
Tom

Hello, used to read BD on my home player, but it died a few months ago.
Found out about libre drive and was able to read some of my BD movies on my computer with a BDR-S09 (firmware 1.54 from 2020).

Is there a way to crossflash it to be able to read UHD discs and movies (libredrive seems to see it as a BDR-209) ?

Thank you.

Thanks from Tom's tips, I was able to reach pl forum. BDR-S09 can indeed be flashed to BDR-211 firmware. I can now enjoy my UHD discs.

I'm happy cause the player is rather silent.
Tried a more recent USB slim drive, but it was so loud I couldn't enjoy movies. No need to seek another player anymore. Thanks makemkv team

Hello,

This is my first post here on the forum. I tried to do as much research as possible before reaching out, but can you please help me confirm what I believe to be true?

I have a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-X13U drive. I have been unable to rip 4K UHD discs yet - because from what I gather my "LibreDrive" is not yet enabled. DVD and BD rips work fine. I purchased it in May 2023. Below is the info shown in the MakeMKV app for me:

Code: Select all

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/rdisk4
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-X13U
Revision: 1.03
Serial number: CBDL000152UC
Firmware date: 2022-12-12
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 68

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS9401
Firmware version: ID29

Disc Information
Label: CASINO
Timestamp: 2019-07-09 16:44:17
Protection: AACS2.0/C v68
Data capacity: 93.22 Gb
Disc type: BD-ROM UHD
Number of layers: 3
Bus encryption flags: 80
Am I out of luck because this drive's firmware is on v1.03 (and the firmware date is 2022-12-12)? Is there anything I can do with this drive at the moment to be able to rip 4K UHD discs?

Thanks for your help!

I do have this drive:

Code: Select all

Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-S12
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: AKDL002802WL
Firmware date: 2022-03-09
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 75

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F00
Firmware version: ID45
I thought the firmware should be old enough but it does not read any UHD disc. It won't even recognize that here is a disc in the drive. However, it will burn BD-XL.

Any hints? Unfortunately the forum does not allow a search for BDR-S12, so I might have missed something.
