FAST X DV FEL does not add anything to the BL.
I'm talking about FEL BD that expands brightness.

Ok, tomorrow I'll do the same test with this film.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 8:10 pmFAST X DV FEL does not add anything to the BL.

I don't know. You may have to mux them to MP4?

Hi RESET_9999!
I used 1.9.2.6. beta 8-7-1 Dolby CM_offline (export SDR 100nits trim pass). My input was a 4K file but I got 2K output. I there any change to get 4K SDR MOV? Thanks!

set downscale=NO
PS expect the mov file to be huge 500gb +

DV FEL (first file) - X800M2
DV 8 (movie ST SL P7 FEL converted with DoviScript) - Sony Bravia A8H
I must be sincere. To the naked eye, without having two televisions next to each other, I don't notice any difference. Contrary to what happened with FAST X, with this film there isn't such a clear difference. Perhaps from the photos the FEL has a very slight bluer tone but I really can't find any differences. What do you think about it?
I found the entire movie and converted it with your tool without modifying L5

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
well as you have shown in your FAST X comp, regardless of FEL, there is a difference between your BD player and internal tv player(tv being brighter , cooler).
So those comparison looks as expected IMO because the P8 file has wrong metadata for the BL brightness, which makes it much darker than it should. This is the reason why the brightness ''almost'' looks like FEL playback on the x800m2.
If you try the test file that has properly generated P8 metadata (resolve), then like FASTX, it should look brighter using your TV internal player.
But it does look like your TV internal app(looks warm) DV has a different temperature settings than your HDMI input (looks cool)

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
hey again, - audio format question
firstly this tool is great I've been using it a lot , thanks again for the help with the tools.
I mostly use the scripts to convert p7 mkv files, to p8 ts for my LG C1.
lg support says that ts files with pcm audio are supported.
https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-libr ... 3095976198
but trying to convert with the script returns something like "unsupported audio format" and stops the conversion.
I tried taking the HEVC p8 file created and mux it myself successfully,
can this be fixed in the batch file?

Picture settings are the same for HDMI and video apps.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 4:29 pmwell as you have shown in your FAST X comp, regardless of FEL, there is a difference between your BD player and internal tv player(tv being brighter , cooler).

So how do you advise me to act?
If the movie is fel but the fel does not extend the brightness, is it better for me to convert to p8 since the TV is brighter and more colourful?
Instead, when I have a FEL that extends the brightness (by the way, how do I understand it?) should I reproduce it with x800m2?
So
Sony Bravia for:
- P7 FEL convered to P8 if it does not extend brightness
- P7 Mel
- P8
- P5
X800m2 for:
- P7 FEL extending brightness
EDIT:
P8 (wrong) Sony Bravia A8H
P8 (optimal) Sony Bravia A8h
I don't know what to say... the image given by the wrong P8 seems even brighter and more enjoyable to me.
Enough.. I don't give up on understanding more

It just make no sense that (2000 L1 + 1000nits BL) produce a brighter image than (1000 L1 + 1000 BL)

Last time I checked, LG TVs were downgrading multi-channel PCM to stereo. I even bought an expensive EARC adaptor for my AVR and still couldnot get better than 2.0 PCM audio from the TV.

I'm aware. It's in HDR10 or HDR10+ only, because Amazon Prime. I'm just wondering how they're getting better results with the same algorithm. Their plot says it's CMv4.0 DV. I used CMv4.0 on the same input file, but got lesser results. I'm just wondering how that's possible because we're both using the same algorithm.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 7:07 pmThe Grand Tour is not DV AFAIK.Trees wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 7:00 pmI don't follow. Are you saying The.Grand.Tour.S05E01/02.2023.2160p.AMZN.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.DoiVi.HBRID.P8 are MadVR generated? How do you know that? The plots say CM v4.0 Dolby Vision. Do you think they chose different L1 analysis tuning to achieve "10k nits"? Is it really 10k nits or is that decided by the pixel brightness relative to other pixel brightnesses? I really don't understand what you mean, I'm not sure how it correlates with my question, to be honest with you. I realise I have alot to learn, but I just don't understand what you mean.
Your file is DV is not original.

Why do you think higher L1 is better?Trees wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 10:20 pmI'm aware. It's in HDR10 or HDR10+ only, because Amazon Prime. I don't think the cmv40 L1 plot you posted was done with the Dolby algo. Min_pq is always 0 so either it was done with madvr or hdr10plus and most likely without L3.
the dovi script removes cmv4.0 when it generates from madvr or hdr10plus because I'm not sure if cmv4.0 metadata without a proper Level 3 is actually correct.
As explained before, there are many ways to get different L1. the new algo in cm_analyze can produce different L1 depending on the tuning you use.
In resolve, if you don't use cubic scaling, you get too high values that not a single retail DV movie uses.
