Hi guys, I have the Pioneer 209 EBK (209-M) and the current firmware is only 1.34/ID60. It is probably perfect for MakeMKV but I would like to upgrade the drive since it will be used as a burner as well. Is that 1.54 firmware still safe for MakeMKV? (I guess it might be since that firmware should be quite old - 2020?).
Just registered to reply your question.
The BDR-209EBK is an awesome drive and absolutely makeMKV safe, incl FW1.54.
You can downgrade from v1.54 to previous versions (did it myself) and also crossflash to the BDR-211 v1.53 to read UHD discs (again, done by myself).
One important thing, don't crossflash to v1.54 of the BDR-211, you lose downgrade, crossflash, lose the ability to play UHD with a Leawo Blu-ray player (according to a different forum, other programs may be also affected) and lose the "safety" of makeMKV.

Cheers
Tom

Hi Tom886,
which tool did you use to flash the BDR-209EBK to BDR-211, please?
Thanks

Hello,

Do you have instructions for flashing Pioneer Electronics BDR-XS07UHD. Right now my libre status shows possible, but not enabled. It looks like at one point this drive worked without flashing that is the reason I bought it. It looks like firmware has been updated. Please help

You guys asking questions on this forum are sloooooow. You should read PMs more frequently. Its a nuisance if you want to get help. Just my 2 cents.

Meh. I discovered that my internal drive on my old PC works perfectly, so I'm in no rush for Pioneer support now.

You're confusing me with someone else. I have a BDR-XD08U, for which no solution currently exists.
