I just purchased and received a LG WH16NS40 from Bluntman; a smooth process, BTW. Everything's working as expected. I need to decide now whether to go with a more modern, faster PC for encoding or larger hard drives for storage.

While I myself have not touched the new apple processors. Option 3 says on the box it supports MacOS. So I can’t imagine the processor would interfere with that.

I'm from Montreal, I've read the OP and there is only 3 models available... My LG WH16NS60 need to be replaced and I'm looking at the Pioneer BDR-S13UBK but it is very expensive but what is hitching me the most is that is is mentioned "microcode 2023" and it seem there is a problem atm for downgrading the firmware or use a firmware for another model in MakeMKV forums drives info.

Do you think it worth it?

I can’t offer you any insight at all on this matter. I have not purchased a single pioneer drive myself. Perhaps someone else may be able to offer some insight. However I can assure you my 3 options are tried and tested by myself and others who offer these drives as well. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

But I’m here if you decide to go with any of my options.
