and one stupid question, if I want to use the Asus BW-16D1HT to RIP UHD Discs, even computers with AMD CPU would work right, rocking 7950X3D :(
Yes it works with amd cpus 3.11 is flashable.
If you have trouble email me or Marty for an automated flasher
Thanks for the reply, but after I flash 3.11 to 3.11 MK, is it possible to then flash it to 3.10 MK? From what I read, 3.10 MK is more consistent on speed.
There is no BW-16D1HT 3.11-MK only 3.10-MK.
Cheers :D

OK just realized another post was mentioning 3.11 MK for another model, my fault, first time dealing with all these model numbers are exhausting.

brilliant. Yeah no saw 2016-requisite [hence why didn't even bother attempting on Pioneer BDR-206D], but also saw this particular model was illustrated multiple times
  • compounded by confirming How-to video's requisite: '...do not proceed unless Drive platform: MT1959...' (in MakeMKV's LibreDrive Information),
  • compounded by Why would manufacture even produce multiple iterations of the exact same model #?).
  • compounded by aforementioned 2020-correspondence (addressing same LG drive model)

sux
thanks for prompt response. obliged

Is this bricked now?

Utilized SDFtool Flasher (via Windows 10 64-bit machine) for my LG WH16NS40 1.02; patching fw WH16NS60 1.02-MK -- after following MiKeeVid/MMN 2020 correspondence below, with same hardware.
After re-installing drive back into mid-2012 mac pro blue light on the front panel (of optical drive) continuously blinks, drive is totally unresponsive (via macOS 10.14 & makeMKV commands; likewise physically pressing front panel eject button).

Help?
fyi: attempted flashing natively on macOS machine (outlined in Mac/linux commands to flash on Ultimate Guide 2023) but couldn't get beyond final step #7 unfortunately

(aforementioned 2020 post...)

OK, if you want to flash to WH16NS60 1.02-MK, why are you trying to flash firmware WH16NS40-NS50 1.03 MK????

Your drive is on WH16NS40 1.02 so you should be able to directly flash WH16NS60 1.02-MK firmware and be done!
you killed it obviously did not read the guide clearly says 2016 + yours is 2014 rip the only fix now is dos flash

Hi,
I dumped the original encrypted 1.04 firmware of my BU40N.
I then flashed the 1.03 firmware. Flashing worked fine.
How can I now restore the old 1.04 firmware? I have an archive with several .bin files. Which of these do I need to use?
Kind regards

you dont restore from the backup it only cal data not FW if you want to go back to the original firmware use the official LG updater but i do not recommend that in any situation if your returning it they dont care or check.

Hi, I’m new to the forum and have just started to make a media server. I have read through the forums and seen that a pioneer flash tool isn’t publicly available. I have already bought the pioneer bdr-xd07ts and it has been working perfectly for my hd Blu-rays but I am enquiring if there is a way that maybe one of the sellers here would be able to flash my drive for me, like the $25 flash for lg & ASUS that is available, so I can start copying my 4k Blu-rays. I’m based in the uk, any help would be great thanks

Hey guys. Trying to flash my WH16NS40 and am encountering some problems. Hoping someone can tell me what's going on here.

Drive specs from makeMKV

Code: Select all

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE WH16NS40
Revision: 1.04
Serial number: KLZJCGG1745
Firmware date: 2119-01-04 13:48
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 76

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
I checked the sticker on the drive. Manufactured late 2019 and has the "SVC Code: NS50" on it.

I downloaded the SDFlasher (v 1.3.5) tool, and grabbed the "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin" file from the "all you need firmware pack".

I leave "encrypted firmware" off, load the bin file, and hit write and get the following error:

"Command produced error code 0x82000000"

No idea if it's relevant, but my mobo is a Z590 Aorus Elite AX

How do i flash the firmware dump, which I have created with the flash utility back on to the drive, if for example I want to send the drive to RMA?

You don't. That dump is just the important user info from the firmware. It is not the complete firmware. If you need to return the drive, you can flash a lower version of the firmware then use the original flasher to return to stock. For example, if you have a WH16NS40 that has been flashed to WH16NS60 1.02-MK firmware, you could flash the drive with WH16NS40 1.02 then use the original WH16NS40 1.05 flasher (viewtopic.php?f=16&t=24443) to return the drive to the stock firmware.
Cheers :D

Why exactly do I have to flash a lower firmware version and not the same version, than the current "wrong" firmware? Does the firmware got an internal version check, which would otherwise prevent me from flashing it or is it to prevent bricking?

It has version check of sorts really it's the boot code
