UHD Drive Help

Post by Leaha00 »

Hi, I am wondering if someone can help me please, I am looking to get a UHD drive for digitising my Blu Rays and have been reading through the Ultimate FLashing Guide, viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19634
I was looking to get the LG BH16NS40 as its a lot cheaper than the ASUS bw-16d1ht in the UK
Though I am a little worried about how to flash it, the guide says drives from 2020 are encrypted and the reccomended firmware to flash is WH16NS60 on any Firmware directly to > WH16NS60 1.02MK, though the firmware download from MakeMKV has a folder BH16NS40-NS50, should I use that firmware over the one for BH16NS60?

If anyone could help, it would be much appriciated
Thanks

Same drive. I always understood the distinction to be:

WH16NS60 = OEM (White box)

BH16NS60 = Retail (Bundled w/ software)

WH16NS60 1.02MK available here > LG 5.25 desktop.

Thanks for that, but what about the BH16NS40 vs the BH16NS60 rather than the WH16NS60?
Would you say the firmware to flash to the BH16NS40 is the BH16NS60 in the ultimate guide, or the BH16NS40-NS50 in the firmware downloads folder?
And what about the drive encryption mentioned for 2020 or later drives, isnt that going to make this impossible?

Thanks

I provided a link to the correct FW ("here > LG 5.25 desktop > HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin") in the last response. The benefit of using B/WH16NS60 FW (interchangeable) is it eliminates the "sleep bug".

Windows? Use the SDFtoolFlasher (w/ 'enc' checked), or use the command line options detailed in the 1st post of guide.
