I am using Windows 7 and the latest version of makeMKV.
I can still make a MKV file out of the main film and play.
I generally always made a back up of the whole disc so i had all the extras

WD media player doesn't support MKV with more than 1 audiotrack.

Remove audiotrack and retry.

Yes. WD Media player limitation.
Some website talk about it.

Most media player have that kind of limitation even if they write *SUPPORT .MKV* (they can't choose the correct audiotrack).

I have the WD TV Live and it supports more than one audio track.

Works on mine.

They're wrong, you should let them know. Spreading bad press about products isn't very nice!

I have 3 media players (2 that are connected to TV's and 1 portable). None of them have any limitations regarding MKV and picking audio streams.

crowfax: Check by yourself before trashing on someone else please.

As far as file support goes it will play anything unless it is an MKV or the audio is DTS, (it will only do AC3 at the moment).
This issue was still there at begin of 2011, it's basicly why I don't buy it.

Perhaps it's fix by a firmwire patch.
And it's not because it's work on yours with work on every WD media player.
If I remember correctly they have at least 3 different model.

nkhan: Just try MKV with only one audiotrack if it's fix your issue or check for a firmware update.

Hard for me to check when I wasn't provided links.

They have 5:
WD TV (1st and 2nd generation)
WD TV Live
WD TV Live Plus
WD TV Live Hub
WD TV Mini

They all have the same internals for playback, aside from the mini, which uses a slower CPU, as highlighted by the fact that it is limited to 1080i. Also the "plus" and the "hub" have an extra chip in them for DRM, which satisfies Netflix for their streaming features.

According to Wikipedia, the 1st gen. WD TV doesn't use the same SoC as the 2nd gen. and the Live:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WD_TV

(the Live Plus and Live Hub also use a different SoC, though as I understand it it's identical to the one used in the 2nd gen. WD TV and the Live aside from DRM support)

That being said, the Live handles HandBrake's MKV output (which, by default, uses variable framerate) with ease, whereas there have been reports (on the HandBrake forums) of A/V desync on the 2nd gen. WD TV for the same files: the same hardware, even with similar software, doesn't guarantee the exact same capabilities.

All I know for sure is that the WD TV Live (with firmware 1.05.04, and some older firmwares which I didn't bother to note down) does handle multiple AAC and AC3 audio tracks without issues.
