I recently updated the firmware revision of a BDR-XS07UHD UHD Blu-ray player from 1.02 (when I got it recently) to 1.03. When it was updated to 1.03, the feature seems to have been deactivated, but not removed. Is there any way to re-enable the feature. It seems to have removed the ability to specifically get content from 4K Blu-rays, as I was able to do it beforehand.

Silly bugger!!! Should have left it alone. Not possible to downgrade it at the moment and support cannot currently be added for that firmware. You could be waiting for a while…

I don’t understand why people keep updating their drive firmware. There’s generally no benefit from updating firmware on optical drives anyway. If it works, leave the bloody thing alone!

I am getting this error. I only plugged the device into a USB C port and installed MKV software using the 30 day trail. Have no performed any updates or firmware upgrades. So this should be how it came out of the box unless windows auto updated it. but the firmware date shows before December 2022 so i assume that is good.

Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
Saved AACS dump file as C:\Users\***/.MakeMKV/MKB20_v76_The_Hobbit-_An_Unexpected_Journey_(Theatrical)_9C61.tgz

Not interesting. Normal. Makemkv tells you to close the application after entering the key and restart the program.

The last firmware currently supported by MakeMKV for this drive is 1.02.

The guys are saying that a solution is being worked on but I understand that there is no official ETA as of yet.

Would you mind telling me the date of manufacture printed on the box? I'm just trying to figure out whether you received a completely new drive or were sent a return originally delivered to someone who updated the firmware, found it was then locked down and sent it back.

Thanks for the response. The date is February 2023. I'm sending it back and getting a drive from Billy.

I'm in the exact situation. Exact drive platform and firmware. Brand new drive arrived from NewEgg today and can't be used. :(

Manufacturing date on the box is "MFD MAY 2022", so I've definitely got a May 2022 build drive with a January 2023 firmware installed on it.

Hoping there's a workaround for this drive soon. :)

These dates to me indicate that your drive was a return. You might have better luck if you exchange it for a replacement.

That's my thought too.

I have an LG drive that I've been ripping with but I think it's getting a bit long in the tooth, age wise. Discs occasionally just don't rip (hash errors). I bought this Pioneer as a replacement.

You mentioned that this platform/firmware was being worked on by the MakeMKV/Libre team? I'm not in any rush really so I wonder if rather than rolling the dice on getting a replacement from Newegg I should just keep the drive and wait for support in the future.

That new firmware won't be supported with the initial release makemkv developer first is planing a downgrade method then will later try to support new firmware without flashing
