Will I Be Able to Rip This Box Set?

#1 Post by Apollo11 » Mon May 08, 2023 5:19 am

Hi,

I’m wondering whether I will be able to rip this box set:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/402804790754

with this drive:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266144803060

without any region-locking problems since I’m in Europe and it’s for the US?
PC:
- Desktop: i7-9700K with RTX 2080 8GB w/ Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

- Laptop 1: i7-12700H with RTX 3060 w/ Debian 12 Bookworm + GNOME.

- Laptop 2: i5-7300HQ with GTX 1050 4GB w/ Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

Blu-Ray drive: Pioneer BDR-UD04 v1.14 Firmware.

I think you will. Asmcom will sell you a LibreDrive capable drive. It should be able to ignore region locking in MakeMKV.

Asmcom's thread on this forum: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=19387

BTW, Amazon.com in the US is selling Stargate SG-1 blu-ray boxed set for $110. (https://www.amazon.com/Stargate-SG-1-Th ... B096Q53ZWN)

Thanks! The drive I linked to is from Asmcom.

EDIT: Though when I try to select the 108.99 USD option I can’t seem to be able to put it in the cart.

At the top of Asmcom's thread it says:

We are unavailable until the 14th of May, 2023.

Maybe it'll work after they return.

I am waiting on eBay for him to return on May 14th.

And I still don’t understand why the price issue I mentioned above happens.

You will get a discount if you contact him by email and you can verify that you are a Makemkv forum member. In addition: If you live in EU and order via ebay UK taxes will apply. If you order by email not taxes for EU will apply since Northern Ireland has a tax free status.
