BW-16D1HT, stay on 3.00 or flash 3.10MK

Post by bennyc »

I have an old BW-16D1HT (with MT1959) that I have repurposed from an old computer and just recently started dumping my movie collection (both normal blurays, and UHD discs(which I didn't start with yet)).
Would there be any benefits by upgrading the drive to firmware 3.10MK such as compatibility, speed or stability or should I just stay on the firmware that it came with from the factory (3.00)?

I know the old saying "If it isn't broken, don't mess with it" but would like a second opinion in the matter.
The drive information window in MakeMKV says that everything is enabled and unrestricted if that's of any help.

I have tried searching the forum and internet in general but didn't come up with anything conclusive.

Thanks in advance,
Benny

I just thought that there could be a difference in compatibility with UHD discs and alike with a higher firmware revision.
But I guess the most of the changes in the official firmware updates are just security oriented and the main purpose to block the "alternative" use of system calls.

I appreciate the answer and will keep my drive on stock 3.00 firmware.

Thanks,
Benny
