Flashing LG WH16NS40 back to original 1.03 firmware

Post by jt5298 »

I want to flash my LG WH16NS40 back to the original 1.03 firmware. I flashed it to 1.02MK using the instructions here. It is now LG WH16NS60 1.00 firmware only because I thought the grinding was related to the 1.02MK firmware. Anyway, just want to know if this is possible without messing up my drive. If it will work, is there a download of the 1.03 firmware I can use to do this? If I could please just get a yes or no answer, this will work or not, and not ask why I am wanting to do this.

Thanks.

Thank you. Is there a download on this site of the 1.03 firmware I can use? If not, will the 1.03 firmware from the LG website work? or is it encrypted.

Thanks

Okay, probably a dumb question, but if I use the firmware from LG's website, I am going to follow their directions to flash my drive back to 1.03 correct?

You would need to flash the drive to WH16NS40 1.02-MK first as the official LG flasher for the WH16NS40 won't find your drive until it is on WH16NS40 firmware. Also, just so you are aware, if you flash it back to stock WH16NS40 1.03 firmware, it will no longer be able to read UHD discs.
Cheers :D

Okay, just so I am clear, it is possible to flash from WH16NS60 1.00 which is what I have now, back to WH16NS40 1.02MK using the SDFtool Flasher. Then use LG 1.03 firmware from their site and directions to flash back to 1.03. Yes, I am aware that it will no longer read UHD discs.

Thanks.

Correct. I'm not sure if there is a WH16NS40 1.02-MK. I think it might be DE_WH16NS40_1.02. Anyway, you must flash to WH16NS40 1.02 or 1.01 firmware before you are able to use the original LG flasher to upgrade to stock 1.03.

I flashed the drive back to 1.02MK using the SDFtool Flasher. I downloaded the 1.03 exe file from LG site. When I extract the zip file. It only opens in H-L Data Storage program, which I believe is the old flasher tool. I can't seem to open the file in another application. I can't find the H-L program on my computer to delete it. LG website says the exe file will open and I need to click the red update button. I can't get to this step because it keeps opening in this other program. It shows the file location but I can't find it there to delete it.

The 1.03 exe file from LG IS the 'H-L program'. Vendor provided FW updates are an integrated package.

sdftool64.exe/SDFtool Flasher/discrete binaries should only be necessary when applying something other than a vendor provided FW.

Help with LG BP50N40

Post by ILove3D »

Hi, I have an LG BP50NB40 SVC NB40, it has MT1959 and all the requirements. I flashed it to NB50 and then to BP60 but now the tray doesn't open. If I open it with a paper clip it doesn't read discs anymore, it doesn't even spin. MakeMKV recognizes the drive but not the discs. I restored the backup firmware and it's the same. I even used the official LG firmware installer and it's now on 1.03, MakeMKV says it has the original firmware again, but it still doesn't work. I just want it to work again, even if it doesn't support 4k Blurays, I just don't want to buy another one for my 3D blurays. Thanks in advance.
