Thank you, that fixed it!RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 7:37 pmSounds like you are using the old dovi_tool version .whatsmyname wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 7:14 pm@RESET_9999 I get an error when trying to plot DV metadata "error: The subcommand 'plot' wasn't recognized". I think I installed all the requirements and hdr10+ plotting works even though it uses the same subcommand. Is there something else I need to do or is this an issue with the script?

nop, none that I know.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I came across one RPU where the number of frames is 4 frames greater than the mkv I pulled directly off the UHD disc. I went through the Hybrid maker and removed four frames. Is there anything more to it than that? This is the first one I have come across that didn't match exactly, so I wanted to make sure I am not missing something.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 8:19 pmif you want to save some time, I already generated DV in resolve for most of the movies, here are over 600 RPU files ready to be injected![]()

By the way, thank you for sharing these. It is amazing.

nothing more to do... which movie is it?
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks for the reassurance.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. MKV file made with MakeMKV has 219173 frames.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
So, is this generated Dolby Vision really better than having standard HDR10? well, I really though that it couldn't beat the quality of the source file.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 5:18 pmL1 metadata is generated by an algorithm(it just map the hdr grade) and only the L2 trims are done manually so the intended look is preserved.LV8HD wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 5:04 pm@RESET_9999 What do you think about Auto Generated Dolby Vision?
I mean, usually, behind every grade there's a human eye that checks the grade result often with the supervision of the movie director himself. So my question is: When we do custom grades (auto generated with DaVinci), is the movie director intent of watching the movie preserved? if so, is it really that better than having standard HDR10?

Thanks, I just checked mine and it's in sync.
But it is better to always verify the scene cut when you inject someone else RPU.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Of course, you send brightness information(L1 min avg and max) about the content to the TV shot by shot.
So the tone mapping is a lot superior than what you get with the static HDR tone mapping curve because the TV knows in advance how the next shot will be.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
When you say "verify the scene cut" do you mean verify the frame counts of the video file and the rpu, like I did? Or is that a specific process I can run with the tool?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 11:58 pmBut it is better to always verify the scene cut when you inject someone else RPU.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Be careful. You need to use US UHD and not EUR UHD. The source for the DV WEB-DL is the American version with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, EUR UHD is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Some scenes were refilmed between the two versions and therefore DV from one wouldn't exactly match with another.jayper wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 11:47 pmThanks for the reassurance.

Thanks for the tip. I have the US UHD.uhdiznotenough4mee wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 12:07 amBe careful. You need to use US UHD and not EUR UHD. Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
oh by 4 frames you meant the script complained about a framecount mismatch when injecting the RPU??
if yes, then it is normal to have a framecount mismatch because it's rarely the same as the WEB-DL. What matter is if the rpu scene cut match your bluray scene cut.
workflow is (2-4) and check the animated gif ("Verify DV synchronization.gif") in the tutorial folder.Or is that a specific process I can run with the tool?
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
No, I opened the created MKV in StaxRip to verify the frame count of the MKV. I also ran the 2-2 workflow to view the frame count of the RPU. I noticed the four frame distance and then when running the 1-1 Hybrd workflow, I re-synced the RPU by removing 4 frames.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 12:10 amoh by 4 frames you meant the script complained about a framecount mismatch when injecting the RPU??

Thanks very much, I will check that one out! I had no idea it existed. Thank you.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 12:10 amworkflow is (2-4) and check the animated gif ("Verify DV synchronization.gif") in the tutorial folder.Code: Select all

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I see, then you didn't have to remove 4 frames. You still should always verify sync with (2-4)jayper wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 12:14 amNo, I opened the created MKV in StaxRip to verify the frame count of the MKV. Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks again for all the help today. I will verify with 2-4 and try again. Thanks so much.
