LG-BU40N

Post by escence »

Heho,

just a short question in addition to the sticky uhd drive flash / recommendation post:

Is this one: https://www.amazon.de/LG-BU40N-ARAA10B- ... 108&sr=8-2

the mentioned LG BU40N ?

I am bit unsure because of the Hitachi-LG Part.

Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

It is. However, I suggest you buy this:

https://www.amazon.de/Verbatim-Externer ... 9hdGY&th=1

It comes with an enclosure and contains a Pioneer UHD drive. But please be aware that it only works with Makemkv and AnyDVD.

I am actually just planing ripping my complete UHD collection.

So the verbatim is a good choice, yes?

Does it need a flash? Or is it like Pioneers "flash-free" ?

Only the Pioneer drives are 'flash-free'. The LG will need to be flashed. The BU40N is a good drive, though.

If you don't want to mess with it, the flashing guide sticky post has a list of sellers who will sell you a flashed and tested drive.

My question was aimed towards the suggested verbatim one housing Pioneer technique.

Does this one needs to be flashed?

No. If you want to stick with Makemkv and AnyDVD it is perfect and doesn't need to be flased.

I have one Last question:

What does stick with MakeMKV and AnyDVD means?

My Plan was ripping with Make to Movie only (no menues, Extras…) and saving to NAS. Playing it from there with infuse on AppleTV of VLC on PC

Does this work? Or must AnyDVD the player?

Or does this „works only“ is just saying that DVDFab & Co won‘t run?
