Increase blu ray ripping speeds

Post by Shredder1 »

hello,

recently lost my entire library thanks too a qnap power failure, so now I have to do everything all over again. the first time, it took 3 months. looking to shave that down a bit.

I have two LG blu ray drives that I use. I was told firmware and other ways can increase the speed somehow? but not sure how too do it.

I was also looking into getting something like this, but it only copies too another disc and it doesn't work on copyrighted content.

any ideas?

MakeMKV drive speed control

The link above outlines one possible strategy.

If you have two drives, presumably you know to set in MakeMKV's preferences 'Ask for single drive mode' and run two instances of MakeMKV at the same time. If you want to spend some money to rip more discs in less time, consider buying a third and maybe a 4th drive. If you have two LG drives, adding a shiny new Pioneer drive would be a nice compliment to your existing drives.

(Also, perhaps, a battery backup for your NAS. :D )
