Can you still flash new drives like ASUS BW-16D1HT

Post by Patrickjp » Tue Aug 16, 2022 8:41 am

The reason Im asking Is because I heard In a video that manufacturers or
the people who make the optical drives are trying to make it so you cant
change the firmware or something like that. Im thinking of buying the ASUS
BW-16D1HT from amazon will I be able to flash it still?

Yes you can still flash them. :D I do have a few questions though and I think the thread topic this should be under is locked.
I flashed the drive successfully but am I missing something? Did me flashing it using the 'enc' just make the drive where it's unlocked and
capable of being flashed with different firmware? I did read the thread on libredrives...what they are etc. Where do I find the 'DE' firmware for my drive?
I also read the thread about windows gui for flashing. I only use Kubuntu which is a fork off Ubuntu distro.

you didnt flash it successfully as you used enc when you should not have do it again without that and it should work.

yes now you are good as it says reenabled.
yes same thing now to go to DE if you wanted but you did have to go to mk first.
