I have a strange issue when trying to RIP the just on BD released 4th season of Discovery.
When trying to rip (most of) the episodes my drive suddenly seems to reset after some time (before one track is complete) and therefore MakeMKV cannot access the files any more and fails with several "Posix-Error - No such device ..." And "Posix-Error Input/output error"
The drive is not usable any more until the device is powered off and on again.
The drive is connected via USB, but the external chaises has its own power supply and worked fine for ages. Just tested it again with a few different BDs without issues.
Funny thing is, on the last disc of the 4 I did not have issues ripping the two episodes on them.
MakeMKV also reports that the disc uses a new(er) version of the AACS protection (on all of the disks)
A backup without decryption flag set also does not work and has the same effect.
Simple dd doesn't work either.
Can this strange behaviour be related to/caused by the new version of the AACS protection? Would upgrade to MK Firmware 1.05 (from currently 1.04) make a difference?

Re: Drive crashes with new BDs
@redtomcat I have recently ripped this with no problems.
I did see the message about AACS protection.

Re: Drive crashes with new BDs
I too have ripped these discs without issue. I also saw the message about AACS (and I submitted the AACS data as the program requests).

Re: Drive crashes with new BDs
Just realised, mine is the windows based program and it looks like you are on the Linux version.
Re: Drive crashes with new BDs
Yes, I am on Linux.
Tied yesterday the same again, directly on a SATA port and also with older versions of Makemkv. Different Linux distributions, all no change.
There is also no big change for me with firmware 1.05
There must be something new to these disks. Maybe something special on the German market. Other disks still don't make issues. Even UHD, all works perfectly.
