Rogue One - A Star Wars Story 4K - 7 titles???

Post by jayeroff » Fri Apr 03, 2020 1:52 pm

Finally received the new Star Wars 4K set. All the movies have 4 titles, and 0800 seems to be the correct playlist like most Disney movies. But Rogue One has 7 different titles, instead of 4. Does anyone know if 0800 is correct for Rogue One? Any idea what the other 6 titles are, or why there are more titles on this disk than normal for Disney?

Thanks!

I narrowed down the English versions to Titles 0 and 4. I have not yet determined what the differences between those two are: they have the same exact run-time, but one is 23 bytes larger than the other. :/

There is a difference in the first portion of the end credits between the two versions.

I suspect it has something to do with the billing order in different regions.

They switched the order of Donnie Yen and Ben Mendelsohn’s credits, as well as Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker’s.

The individually packaged Rogue One I got from Target must be different. It still has 7 titles but t00 ended up being Spanish, well at least the scrolling words at the beginning of every Star Wars moves was in Spanish. Ripping a different one and will see if I get lucky. I have to say this is the most annoying thing about ripping my movies is finding the right title to rip.

Give GetMPLS a try. Use the search function and you will find it.
Cheers :D

Disney has language-specific versions of movies on most of their discs via seamless branching for credits, things in the movie itself such as written signs, etc. You want to look at the mpls playlist number rather than the "title" number (which is arbitrary to MakeMKV and determined by the order that the program selects which titles to show).

Playlist number 800 is always* the English for Disney and then 801, 802, etc. for other languages.

* You'll see similar pattern for things such as short films included with their animated films, where 700 will be the English and you'll see 701, 702, etc.
* Excepting some older discs, but these would often follow a similar idea, such as 400.

Here's what is on the UHD version of Rogue One included in the three-disc pack, together with the HD Blu-ray and another Blu-ray of Bonus Features (ISBN 786936870084):

English:

Code: Select all

Source file name: 00800.mpls
Segment map: 55,56,57,59,60,61,62,63,64,65,66,67,68,69,70,71,72,73,74,94,119

Source file name: 00805.mpls
Segment map: 55,56,57,59,60,61,62,63,64,65,66,67,68,69,70,71,72,73,74,120,119
French:

Code: Select all

Source file name: 00801.mpls
Segment map: 75,56,57,76,60,77,62,78,64,79,66,80,68,81,70,82,72,83,74,94,119

Source file name: 00806.mpls
Segment map: 75,56,57,76,60,77,62,78,64,79,66,80,68,81,70,82,72,83,74,120,119
Japanese:

Code: Select all

Source file name: 00803.mpls
Segment map: 93,56,58,95,60,96,62,97,64,98,66,99,68,100,70,101,72,102,74,120,119
Spanish:

Code: Select all

Source file name: 00802.mpls
Segment map: 84,56,57,85,60,86,62,87,64,88,66,89,68,90,70,91,72,92,74,94,119

Source file name: 00807.mpls
Segment map: 84,56,57,85,60,86,62,87,64,88,66,89,68,90,70,91,72,92,74,120,119
As schorman highlighted above, the only difference between English, French, and Spanish having two separate .mpls files each is the difference in the order of the credits (note the last final segment maps of 74,120,119 vs. 74,94,119, at timestamp 02:06:33:

00800.mpls/Segment 94:
Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jimmy Smits, James Earl Jones, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker.

00805.mpls/Segment 120:
Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jimmy Smits, James Earl Jones, Forest Whitaker, Jiang Wen.

Does this disk have an issue ripping?
Im able to rip 0800 95 percent through then fails at the end.
