Playing through vlc?

Is there a way to play through instead of ripping because I do not have much storage right now. Im using a WH16NS40 Flashed to WH16NS60 1.02 Libredrive enabled. I tried this with Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) but it only plays the fbi warning and then the new line cinema logo before closing.

It should just work if you own makemkv and enabled the integration try another disc
It's like working because it opened the disc vlc crashing may be its own issue not makemkv
