Hello! I use LibreDrive and MKV with my Hitachi-LG BH16NS55 on my desktop PC and it works like a charm (thank you!).
I've noticed only now that also the BD drive on my old laptop could have LibreDrive as well. How can I make it work?
(I know that this drive will never be able to read UHD Blu-Ray)
In order for it to work it will be necessary for Mike to add your drive to the LibreDrive database.
By the way, there is a WIP project for crossflashing non-UHD to so-called "UHD-friendly" drives, and your drive's hardware should be capable to work with BDR-UD04 firmware. I will need a memory dump from your drive to add its support, please check your PM for further instructions. Thanks in advance!
I've successfully dumped the firmware from my drive as your instruction said, but I can't directly reply to your PM because I joined the forum only yesterday and is said I'm not authorised yet.
I have a BDR-212V that isn't reading 4k discs, status is "No disc inserted". The drive info window indicates LibreDrive is enabled for the drive. Standard blu-rays read fine, have tried multiple UHD discs. Internet access for MakeMKV is enabled.
I switched to this drive from a flashed WH16NS40 because it was having issues reading triple layer discs and I heard the Pioneer drives handled these discs better.
Here is the info from the drive:

Edit: I am reading now that I needed to purchase a drive with a "U" in the model. Wish I had known that before. Guess I'll just revert to the LG drive and return the Pioneer.

Also, how do I know if my sdf file has been updated? I looked in my \.MakeMKV folder and there's a _private_data.tar file and some other files, but no sdf.bin. Is that normal?

Your drive and firmware is on the list of supported drives. Click "Settings" "General" and mark the checkbox "Enable Internet access". Then if you insert a Disc you should see in the status window that Makemkv updates it's informations. Does the drive work now with LIbredrive?

"Enable Internet access" was already checked. I just inserted a disc and then attempted to open it in MakeMKV. The drive information still looks the same as above, ie, it doesn't have LibreDrive enabled.
You should write a PM to mike admin. He can remotely dump your firmware to his server and then add support. It is most likely a different version of 1.00 that is already supported.
Just so you know, even if LibreDrive becomes enabled for this model, being so old, it will never read UHD discs.
I know but I already have it with me and I don't need UHD for the moment.
Also, just so you know, it took 2 years for any Pioneer drives to become libredrive enabled, so the fact that your drive's status is: "Possible but very unlikely to happen" would most likely mean several years (if ever) before libredrive is enabled.
Just saying, don't wait for it. If you want libredrive compatibility anytime soon, get yourself a new drive.
Cheers

Got my new BDR-X13UBK drive and it isn't reading 4k discs. It was my understanding that Pioneer drives containing "U" in the model number all have UHD reading capability, but I have tried several discs and none read, same as the last Pioneer drive that didn't have a "U". When I open MakeMKV with a disc already in the drive nothing happens. When I put a new disc in, MakeMKV sees a disc has been inserted and attempts to read, then gives up after a minute and says "No disc inserted".
