Chronos IMAX Bluray fails to load / SCSI Error

#1 Post by kinglerxst » Fri Oct 07, 2022 10:02 am

Been ripping my BD/4k collection for my Plex Media server using MakeMKV for several months now with ZERO issues...
But tonight ran into my 1st disc that wouldn't load/appear to show its contents as normal so I could pick and choose what I wanted to rip. It did its initial thing but then just sat there and kept spinning the disc.

Disc in question: Chronos - Digital Reference Series Special Edition
UPC Code: 881991160191
ISBN: 1-932909-02-8
https://www.amazon.com/Chronos-Blu-ray- ... 846&sr=8-1

Here is the output log from MakeMKV:

Code: Select all

MakeMKV v1.17.1 win(x64-release) started
Error 'Scsi error - HARDWARE ERROR:441E' occurred while reading 'BD-RE PIONEER BD-RW BDR-XD07U 1.04 TLDL005641UC' at offset '1048576'

Error 'Scsi error - HARDWARE ERROR:441E' occurred while reading '/AACS/Content000.cer' at offset '0'
I already rebooted my laptop and took the disc out and tried again and no luck
No scratches or fingerprints can be seen on the disc
I took this disc out and put in a different disc and MakeMKV was acting back to normal again and reading the disc info just fine

Windows 10 Pro
Drive : Pioneer BD-RW BDR-XD07U (4k capable with latest firmware installed
PC: Dell XPS 15 9560

Any ideas?
thanks

Those error messages indicate the drive is having difficulty reading the disc.

Try gently cleaning the disc. If that doesn't work, try a different drive if possible. It has been my experience that some discs just don't work well in some drives. I have 3 drives I use. When my main drive won't read a disc, I try one of the others. Often, but not always, the disc works fine in one of the other drives. If not, then gently cleaning the disc usually works.

Yes I cleaned the disc as well as swapped out to my 2nd BD drive (non 4k BD only, a Pioneer BDR-X05B model) and still not reading it.
Error from MakeMKV:

MakeMKV v1.17.1 win(x64-release) started

I tried playing it using DVD player software on PC (CyberLink Power DVD 14) but that didnt work either
Same thing for Windows Media Player. No go

Put it in my Panasonic UHD BD820 player and it didnt read it either! :(

Hmm I guess there IS something wrong with he disc after all.
Thats too bad. One of my faves for sure

Its been a while since I played this disc so not sure what happened to it. Its been stored with all my other BDs and they are ok so....
Thanks anyways. I guess MakeMKV wasnt the issue after all
