Thanks again for your clear answer.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 12:12 pmNo, it would not look worse because L1 is the same.yossSP wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 10:48 amWell, then, if a mkv file uses CMv4.0, a device that only supports CMv2.9 couldn't process all the improvements of the EL layer, only the ones compatible with the CMv2.9. So that, the picture looks worse than it is, loosing all the improvements coded in L3/L8. That's right?
And a final question, the difference in image quality between a full process with CM4.0 source and a CMv4.0 source playingback compatible CMv2.9 in a device that only supports v2.9 is remarkable or subtle?
L8 is just an improved(i suppose) version of L2 and in the end, shouldn't really look different even though each metadata works differently than L2.
The point of trim passes is that the movie looks roughly the same on every TV regardless of its capabilities.
I was wondering if there's an other concept/compatibility to be aware to asure a correct playback of DV content
