I don't think it has CMv4RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 2:51 pmWow, so your TV only supports LLDV but still has the newest CMV4.X version of DV.
But does it matter with Player-led mode, hm?
If player supports CMv4 it should output DV with all CMv4 processing.

Ok, thanks for your answer RESET_9999.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 4:59 pmIf this is what you are asking, almost all the movies are done in CMV2.9 and I don't understand why because the CMV4.X L1 generation is VERY different than CMV2.9 L1 generation. CMV4.X is supposed to be improved compared to CMV2.9.
CMV4.x vs CMV2.9, same settings, same content:
https://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/26961
Well, then, if a mkv file uses CMv4.0, a device that only supports CMv2.9 couldn't process all the improvements of the EL layer, only the ones compatible with the CMv2.9. So that, the picture looks worse than it is, loosing all the improvements coded in L3/L8. That's right?
And a final question, the difference in image quality between a full process with CM4.0 source and a CMv4.0 source playingback compatible CMv2.9 in a device that only supports v2.9 is remarkable or subtle?

you can try the ATV fake p5 version in your internal tv player. It worked for other Sony owners

No, it would not look worse because L1 is the same.yossSP wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 10:48 amWell, then, if a mkv file uses CMv4.0, a device that only supports CMv2.9 couldn't process all the improvements of the EL layer, only the ones compatible with the CMv2.9. L8 is just an improved(i suppose) version of L2 and in the end, shouldn't really look different even though each metadata works differently than L2.
The point of trim passes is that the movie looks roughly the same on every TV regardless of its capabilities.

I was wondering if there's an other concept/compatibility to be aware to asure a correct playback of DV content

Hi DonaldFaQ .
I love your tools also. I usually use DDVT_DEMUXER to fix different cropped RPU vs Video. Especially when the mp4muxer muxed with mismatch rpu pixels range, the video played will be quenched upside down. https://github.com/DolbyLaboratories/dl ... e/issues/7
The last time i use 0.43, I can't got mp4 from mkv with DDVT_MKVTOMP4 properly
Still use mkvcleaver to extract and remux with Dolby mp4remux
BTW, I just got DV 7 video.
It is john wick 2014. Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible
The tv doesn't like with DV7 mp4 container, and the mp4muxer doesn't seem support DV7 also.
Times to use tools...to get DV8.1 or DV 8 HLG
I use RESET_9999 Dovi_Script and DonaldFaq Dovi_tool to convert to DV8 and remuxit with mp4muxer from Dolby github.
Question for RESET_9999:
I just use Dovi_Script 1.5.2, and choose path 4-5-2, and installed phyton with it necessaries.
Looks like it want copy to c:, it needs administrator since copy to main folder. why cant be temp folder instead.
Question for DonaldFaq:
1. If the DV7 mkv extracted using DDVT_DEMUXER with crop off by default. i got rpu.bin that different range (rpu has 280x) as video range (0px)
so i got restarted again with DDVT_DEMUXER, crop on right?
2. When i got the rpu.bin it should be same folder as input mkv right, by using DDVT_INJECTOR to get mkv DV8, right?
3. What the best for budget DV TV: DV 8.1 or DV 8 HLG format from DV7 mkv.
Regards both of you. Thank you for the tools.

With the whole file got the same mistake as above. Smth about “enough space”.
But using small cut sample from that file everything works fine!
So maybe there is a need of additional free space. A question is of what size.

Well of course, the drive you put the script folder on must have enough space. It needs at least two times the size of the input file.duder wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 11:59 amTried with v1.5.3 (thx again for updating it!)

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hello,
First of all excuse me for my English, I'm not English speaking at the base
I need your help .. I read many many pages on this forum but I remain in misunderstanding:
I'm trying to extract DV data from an MKV file, like this: Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible
and reinject them into an MKV file that only contains HDR10 data, like this: SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible
Can someone give me the step by step I need to do? With what software or scripts, step by step like I was 8 years old lol
I've been trying to do this for months
Thanks a lot !

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
anyone seen any weird drastic brightness "flickering" after HDR10+ to DV? So far it's only on Nomadland, but both me an a friend converted it separately and have the same result. Basically the scene is panning across and it jumps up and down brightness dramatically in the DV version for a split second, but it is not present in the HDR layer when I view the same video on a non-DV display.
I noted down 1:06:40 in Nomadland where you can see it clearly.
Anything I should try as a fix?
