Hi!
I have copied some movies to the computer with the makemkv program. The soundtrack is DTS HD master audio. If I transfer the picture+sound with an HDMI cable to the TV and with a TOSLINK cable from the TV to the D/A converter, is the sound heard at all from the speakers? Toshlink does not support DTS HD lossless audio. I use VLC media player.

When you set the TV's output to toslink it should the the media player the highest support is dts and it should fall back.
That's assuming you even have VLC setup to bit stream by default it does not it software decodes to pcm

Ok, that should work. Another connection method is to connect the active speakers (amplifiers built-inBillycar11 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 9:14 pmWhen you set the TV's output to toslink it should the the media player the highest support is dts and it should fall back.

) to the RCA connectors. The TV itself plays the soundtracks of .mkv movie files via HDMI, so it supports this audio format.
