Vertigo 4k UHD Only Ripping With Commentary
Vertigo 4k UHD Only Ripping With Commentary
Hi, sorry if this is a noob question or not how this works, but I didn't see this covered elsewhere. I have the steelbook Vertigo 4K UHD (I purchased it standalone but it could be the same disc that's in the Alfred Hitchcock Collection) and am ripping with a BU40N, but every time I rip the disc, I only get the main film video file with commentary. I have tried ripping the entire disc, but it only appears to make videos with the commentary. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Media info of the MKV file would help. My guess is that your player cannot play DTS:HD or Dolby TrueHD track and defaulted to the DD stereo commentary track.

Or the commentary track is the first track in the file. MakeMKV does not NORMALLY flag tracks as "default", but it can... but only the first track found. It depends heavily on how the disk is mastered.

Re: Vertigo 4k UHD Only Ripping With Commentary
I just ripped this disc yesterday and it definitely an issue with OP's player. I recommend the K-lite codec pack myself and MadVR.
Re: Vertigo 4k UHD Only Ripping With Commentary
Thank you everyone for the info. Going to try the rip on another player to confirm for myself.
I am sorry for my incredibly dumb question, but where would I find this info so I could share it? Windows 10 operating system if that's info you'd need.

Re: Vertigo 4k UHD Only Ripping With Commentary
It was indeed an issue with my player, tried this file and two others I had similar issues with in another player and they all played perfectly. Thank you everyone for helping a newbie figure this out, was starting to think I was crazy.sephirothkefka wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 1:34 amI just ripped this disc yesterday and it definitely an issue with OP's player.
