I acquired an old WH14NS40 drive (manufactured 2012) from a friend. It is already flashed and can do regular blurays fine. I was wondering if it was possible to flash a drive this old in order to read UHD discs? MakeMKV gives me this info about the drive:
OS device name: E:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE WH14NS40
Revision: 1.00
Serial number: K89XXXXXXX
Firmware date: 2112-02-09 11:26
Bus encryption flags: 17
LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1939
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.00
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Partial
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
If nothing can be done that is fine I will just look for a newer drive, hopefully manufactured within the decade.
Thanks in advance

Re: Old WH14NS40 to UHD
No, it cannot be flashed for UHD support, because it was manufactured 3 years before that was a "thing".
