Hi yall,
I know typically Uncorrectable Errors means that the disc is dirty however, I do not believe this to be the cause in this case and here is why:
This issue occurs with multiple discs...like a lot of them and seems to affect 4K more than bluray or dvd.
All of the discs that have the uncorrectable error in the WH16NS40 drive work perfectly fine when I put them into the BD-RE WH14NS40 drive.
I’ve ripped 20x 4K discs and 100 blu-ray/dvd and with the number that I’ve had say “uncorrectable” on the WH16 there should be at least one that does it on the WH14 but instead all work fine on the WH14.
The WH16’s will error on a disc so bad at times you’d think I dipped the disc in motor oil yet that same disc the WH16 says is mostly unreadable the WH14 reads without problem.
The affected drive:
Model: WH16NS40
Firmware: 1.05
Firmware Type: Patched (Microcode access re-enabled)
I’m confident in my diagnosis that this is a drive specific problem.
Before I go through the trouble of doing a warranty, could this be a firmware problem? Could downgrading to 1.03 help?
BD-RE WH16NS40 giving Uncorrectable Errors. Could this be a firmware problem?

If it happens mostly with 3-layer UHDs please cross-flash to WH16NS60 1.03
