Flash a BD-RE BU40N drive - first time

Post by outland »

So, I decided to give it a go and flash my own drive. You can see the drive (which is attached via USB enclosure) on the attached screen shots.

I'm on macOS (M1 chip) but have access to a Windows 10 PC and plan to use this viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22896

I'm totally committed and know I can brick my drive so:

1. Can you guys/girls point me to the correct firmware to flash it with?
2. Anything I should be aware of before I go?

Thanks

So, I should flash it directly from 1.04 to 1.00DE for it to work on both MakeMKV and DVD Fab?

Using this:
DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin

Again, thanks!

Again, thanks for the reply.

Also, I understand why people would want to buy a pre-flashed drive. For many reasons not what I want to do. So just asking for best advise before flashing :)

So, why no?

Please flash first 1.04 or 1.03 MK. Only afterwards flash it again to downgrade to 1.00

So first to this one from mk-firmware-pack-20200720:
HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.04-NM00500-212005061142.bin

Then if I want DVDFab:
DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin

Ok, did not do the trick so this command:
makemkvcon64.exe f --all-yes -d D: rawflash enc -i C:\HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.04-NM00500-212005061142.bin

Again, thanks!
