Possible Fake DVD Set

Curious question, I recently bought Season 1 of Chicago PD on DVD. When I started ripping in MKV I got a message saying:

"It appears that you are opening the disc processed by DvdFab/MacTheRipper which is known to produce damaged VOB files. Errors may follow - please use original disc instead"

Is this a sign that I have a fake disc?

Not necessarily; those errors come up for unknown reasons.

Are those DVD-R disks? I have sometimes wondered if the lack of copy protection on manufactured-on-demand disks can cause spurious messages.

I'm not sure if they are MOD or not. Looking at the disc and the insert, it doesn't look fake. I just thought this was odd. I bought this from a local 2nd hand store I go to. It's not a "shady" establishment. I just found the message odd.
