MKV to MP4

Hi.
I just make my first DVD rip and was wondering if anyone knows of a free tool that'll convert it to mp4 or mpg for an old windows xp machine and a free mkv codec compatable with xp?

Limiting yourself to using XP limits which versions of some programs you can use. For example, the most prominent (in my mind) is handbrake, but you're limited to version 1.x by XP, since later versions moved to 64-bit implementations. As long as you stay with 32-bit versions, you should have problem with XP.

You also can use the 32-bit version of ffmpeg to do the conversion as well.

Windows XP is pretty old at this point.

0.9.9 is the last version of Handbrake to support Windows XP.
