How to remux 4k with Dolby vision & Atmos

#1 Post by zerocool2021 » Thu Apr 14, 2022 12:56 am

Is makemkv capable of making a remix of a 4k uhd with Dolby vision and Atmos? I do not see any in-depth guides on how to do this but obviously these remixes do exist but can makemkv create these?

Yes, is possible through UI by selecting right Title or through command line: https://www.makemkv.com/developers/usage.txt

Sure is, with a caveat - the DV in the file will only contain a single layer, ATM MakeMKV cannot do dual layer DV

AFAIK MakeMKV can perfectly create dual layer mkv's. Maybe you meant to say it can't mux both layers as dual-track, but interleave them in a single track?

If there's a caveat, maybe it's that most Dolby Vision "supporting" players can't process dual layer mkv to fullest potential. Because they don't have a second HEVC decoder onboard. This is required in case of FEL titles, where there is extra videodata in the enhancement layer.
