no truehd mkv though, that's one of the few reasons why im considering the oppo203 clones.
I don't think oppo203 clones can do 'truehd mkv'.

For ts,m2ts, p7 dldt

Is using tsmuxer alone the same as using ffmpeg for demux and tsmuxer for muxing ?

We can generate DV for any HDR10 movie... MKV container is useless to me and this thread is about Dolby Vision , not HDR10/SDR playback...
Sure, im just saying there's more to consider when picking a player, but sure for DV the 800m2 is a good proposition,
even with everything in my chain replaced it still behaves oddly sometimes for me, but im sure the oppo will have similar or other quirks.

just need the trick of swapping to a secondary audio track and back, as far as I know.

Not sure what's the value of generate DV from HDR10. DV's EL+RUP is suppose to be the difference between master tape and HDR10. Sure you can evaluate what's in HDR10 and generate something that may be pleasing to some people.

Definitely not the x800m2 causing that(unless you're talking about non-DV stuff again). I now have watched 15 movies without a single issue and I'm more and more confident that this player is as stable as the x700.

Yes, for DT-DL, you only need tsmuxer.
I stopped using ffmpeg for demuxing, it was causing me problems. Tsmuxer works better. mkvextract too.

has anyone had this error with dovi tool?

Code: Select all

Error: Condition failed: `self.max_display_mastering_luminance <= MAX_PQ_LUMINANCE` (38528 vs 10000)
Have you already find out what the issue was?
I encounter the same issue now with two movies from AppleTV+
Hope we can sort this out!

Hello, I'm new here.

I saw an avsforum thread talking about quietvoid's dovi_tool and how to attach a web-dl DV layer to your HDR remux using this tool. It led me here.

I downloaded the code in .zip from Github but I'm very confused how I may 'open and run' the programme. Am I supposed to 'build' it first? But I don't know how.

Could someone please help? Many thanks in advance.

For windows, you have to extract .tar.gz file into .tar file. Which you extract to a folder called "dist". In this folder is the tool.

It's CLI, check https://github.com/quietvoid/dovi_tool#readme on how to use.

Thank you for the help. I just managed to run it in cmd. But to deal with a .mp4 rather than a .hevc, ffmpeg is required. And I figured I'd have to install it and add ffmpeg.exe to Path.

instead of answering always the same question over and over, I made an excel sheet resuming pretty much everything that works or not.
If you want to add anything, let me know.

Have Sony X800m2 - tried to paly m2ts - Profile 8 DV with Lossless Atmos (muxed with 27th Feb tsmuxer nightly build which have atmos addition ) - No Audio playback on TRUEHD track but same file track 2 audio AC3 played fine . No issues with DV video with Track 2 selected and also no issues with BDMV folder files with DTDL Profile 7 + Truehd . Am I missing Something ? file played via Wireless Network from NAS .

Sounds like the TrueHD core is missing. Did you remux from a MKV ? if yes, then you have to add the ac3 core back into TrueHD.

Note that tsMuxer has always supported and muxed Atmos. This "atmos addition" means no more than tsMuxer will now show TrueHD + Atmos in the track-info list. Where it earlier was described as TrueHD.

I saw DetectBorders in your files, I tried running the batch file "Detect.BORDERS" but it doesn't work.
What is DetectBorders?
What is it used for?
How to use?

it detects black bars and write the data in a text file (D:\borders.measurements.txt). Not sure if it's perfectly accurate though. It may be better to measure manually, I didnt really test the tool.

Code: Select all

DetectBorders.exe --ffmpeg-path="D:\Dolby-Vision-Tools\tools\ffmpeg.exe" --input-file="D:\hdr.mkv" --log-file="D:\borders.measurements.txt"
