Same exact issue for me as well, I'm also running Win7 64-bit.
Tried re-installing in Admin mode but received same error.
MakeMKV 1.6.5 Application failed to initialize

Please navigate to the folder where MakemKV is installed, run
and see if any errors show up.

Thanks for the fix!
I got the error with 1.6.5.
win7 64 bit.
killed a previous makemkv process that was still running.
Uninstalled makemkv.
cleaned registry.
installed, and working again.

Because MakeMKV is a hybrid application, both 32-bit and 64-bit.
