Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Has anybody tried the new https://www.mi.com/global/product/xiaomi-tv-stick-4k/
it seems to officially support HD Audio (DTS HD) as well as Dolby Vision. When I receive mine i’ll test if FEL playbacks correctly while also having HD Audio Passthrough.

@all
Now that lav filters supports DV p5 and p8, is there any video renderer or player that can use it right now??
I don't really expect madvr to support it since madshi only cares about SDR and his over-priced Envy.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Just be aware - if you plan on using this device besides just for testing or strictly DV playback alone or w/e - I've used many Android TV devices over the years - I had to sell/get rid of my Mi Box S because of a wake from sleep issue they refused to acknowledge or fix for years (could not use Google assistant in any manner to wake the device from sleep - even another remote via HDMI-CEC would not work - only the original remote it came with would work to wake the device with a button press from sleep) - and I saw so many small QoL bugs with almost every update it felt - I can't recommended Mi products especially if you have alternatives in your country/price range.mtotheb wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 12:24 pmHas anybody tried the new https://www.mi.com/global/product/xiaomi-tv-stick-4k/

Looks like from the article here, https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-t ... 1-support/, it sports an Amlogic SOC. Hopefully like some of the previous Amlogic devices, it'll still have the dual video decoders necessary for FEL playback.mtotheb wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 12:24 pmHas anybody tried the new https://www.mi.com/global/product/xiaomi-tv-stick-4k/

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Good news! There's been an update to TS-Muxer which now allows the importing of TrueHD tracks directly from MKVs!
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
If it is using the AMLOGIC S905Y4 as that article suggests, I found some specs that say that SOC can simultaneously decode 4 x 1080p60 streams, so maybe the one 2160p23.976 stream plus one 1080p23.976 stream required for FEL DV isn't out of question. I would guess that the big problem would be software support, though? I haven't followed the Android player app scene, but are there any Android player apps can that can handle FEL on any device? I'm guessing not otherwise we all would have bought that device, right?shawnc22 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 2:14 amLooks like from the article here, https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-t ... 1-support/, it sports an Amlogic SOC. Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
yes, and soon it will also work on the x700 because right now tsmuxer doesn't add an ac3 core which the x700(and bluray players) need to be able to play TrueHD.
really a time-saver...
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Ah, forgive me. I hadn't yet tested it out with my Oppo before posting. I didn't realize it was missing the ac3 core.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 3:23 pmyes, and soon it will also work on the x700 because right now tsmuxer doesn't add an ac3 core which the x700(and bluray players) need to be able to play TrueHD.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks, although I only tried out with one, but it the AVR didn't recognised it as TruHD, there were no sound playing back from Oppo. I used the 2022-01-26 version.
Does it work for you? If so, with which nightly exactly?
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Oh, that's why then, thanks!RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 3:23 pmyes, and soon it will also work on the x700 because right now tsmuxer doesn't add an ac3 core which the x700(and bluray players) need to be able to play TrueHD.

Did you use a JSON file to edit the L6 metadata in your dovi_tool workflow?Robert89 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 7:10 pmhas anyone had this error with dovi tool?
Code: Select all
Error: Condition failed: `self.max_display_mastering_luminance <= MAX_PQ_LUMINANCE` (38528 vs 10000)
Something like:
If so, it looks like you (or something) set max_display_mastering_luminance to 38528 rather than the usual values of 1000 or 4000. The error is saying the max value is 10000."level6": {
"max_display_mastering_luminance": 4000,
"min_display_mastering_luminance": 50,
"max_content_light_level": 1272,
"max_frame_average_light_level": 823
}
If you're editing L6, dovi_tool needs all L6 values to be integers, not floating point values, so you need to multiply the typical min_display_mastering_luminance value of 0.0050 cd/m2 by 10000, so using the value 50 instead.
But you don't multiple the max_display_mastering_luminance. So if something set that to 38528, that would be a problem.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Single Track Dual Layer
Dual Track Dual Layer
Those are terms primarily for DoVi Profile 7, used with UHD BDs.
STDL is used in some formats, e.g., mkv files, where a single HEVC video track can contain the BL+EL+RPU (that is: the 2160p or 1080p Base Layer video substream + the 1080p Enhancement Layer video substream that may carry additional video data + the Reference Picture Unit (RPU) substream that holds the DoVi dynamic metadata).
DTDL is used in some formats, e.g., m2ts files on UHD BD, where the BL video stream is stored in one video track and the EL+RPU substreams are stored in a second EL video track.
MakeMKV can take in DTDL from UHD BD or mkv files, or STDL from mkv files, and output STDL mkv files.

Yep, I had this issue with Amores perros iTunes web-dl. typical apple , they often do stupid things like that.
original rpu:
Code: Select all
"Level6": {
"max_display_mastering_luminance": 23040,
"min_display_mastering_luminance": 50,
"max_content_light_level": 1033,
"max_frame_average_light_level": 272
}
