LG WH16NS60 Drive question

My old LG drive is refusing to write so I just ordered an LG WH16NS60 which should arrive Friday along with an OWC enclosure.

I started reading about needing to flash the drive with a modified firmware to allow for UHD ripping.

I plan on using the SDFtool flasher as opposed to the command line version. My question is for that drive should I use the modified 1.02 version as I saw referenced in a different thread here, or the 1.03 which is in the latest firmware pack on these boards?

why do you need to flash it as it is already official uhd drive

to officially playback UHD. but you cant because you have an nvidia GPU
didnt i recommend you get a WH14NS40 a few days ago? since you wanted internal 5.25 drive

thanks for help , i can use onboard intel uhd 630 also . my question is will this 16ns60 atleast read the uhd disk natively?

You could but your board only has HDMI 1.4 so no HDR unless your using display port or display port to HDMI and then you lose lossless audio.

I'm telling you it's just better to go the unofficial play back route and flash your drive it's not a big deal I could send you 1000s of people who the stuff should work with powerdvd official but it does not.

Mostly because of sgx and a bug with power DVD that it only works with an old sgx and once you upgrade the sgx downgrade is no longer valid

Likely not but check with the UHD advisor app from cyber link
