large file

#1 Post by fpefpe » Wed Dec 29, 2021 2:55 am

Hello --- I just ripped a blu-ray disc. makemkv generated over 20 files --- I found the the large file (14gb) and assume that was the movie. I started up vlc to play it, but VLC keep toggling between play and pause --- after about a minute I stop vlc ----

now, my computer is old and slow, but its running win 10 --- is the size of this file causing the issue or was the disc not ripped correctly?

thanks

Perhaps your computer's storage wasn't fast enough to play the file? Or, perhaps the CPU isn't powerful enough to play the file without stuttering?

Do you have other blu-ray rips you've successfully played on your computer?

not exactly ---- 23 files were ripped from this blu-ray disc, the size range from 245K to 14G --- all the files, ever the 7g file file plays fine --- I will try this on a faster computer to see if its this old laptop

seems a mobile 3200 would have h.264 decoding maybe only 4gis of ram and a dual core cpu cant feed it fast enough

Hello --- I copied the file to my desktop --- which has 16g memory and proc speed is 3.2 --- and the results were the same --- at this point all I can say it seems that the rip of the disc was bad ---- thx again for your help
