One more question: Any advantage to using .m2ts over .ts (or the other way around)?
no, none that I'm aware of.
Sorry for my English.

I have an LG G1 and Sony x700. Now, if I have a .iso of a 4K Bluray (dual layer DV), can I play it in its full glory by converting it to .m2ts (because .iso playback is not supported if I'm not mistaken)? If so, what is the exact process that I'd have to follow? I also have some .mkv files but not sure if they are 7.06vhe or just profile 7.

What options do I have? I've been lurking for some time in this sub and there's so many things and discoveries every few weeks that I'm not exactly sure what's the path to follow. Also, didn't have an OLED TV up until now, so I'd like to get the max out of it.

Thanks for the help.

I can use the subtitles in .m2ts (from .srt).
I have problems with the subtitles in .ts created with tsmuxer.

Which playback devices support playback of Dolby Vision 4K UHD Blu-ray full disc rips (in BDMV folder structure)?

Is it just the Oppo UDP-203 and clones or can some other Blu-ray players and media players also support full disc rips?

Thanks.

RTD 1619 based Dune and Zidoo mediaplayers play UHDBD folders/ISOs.

sure. I use this method: with tsmuxer, add the heaviest m2ts file from the bluray and mux in m2ts. (maybe you can just copy the m2ts file from the bluray and put it on a usb stick, without using tsmuxer :D idk. never tried.)
if you need subtitles, but don't want horrible subtitles, do this: add a srt file, go to the subtitles section, change font to size 20 (or what u want) and color to # 3a3a3a (or what u want). I use position between 88 (max position for black bar) and 0, change each time, to prevent burn in. Mux in blu-ray folder.

question: how can I play an mkv file dvhe.05.06, BL+RPU with lg cx and sony x700?

Apologies if this has been asked before - I did a quick search and didn't see anything: is there a way to convert an MKV with a DV profile 7 layer to one with 8.4? As far as I know, Apple TV supports HDR10 and DV profiles 5 and 8.4 (HLG+DV metadata) but not 7. I do know that 7 is HDR10 based and 8.4 is HLG, but I'm willing to transcode if necessary.

This won’t work if you want Dolby vision from my tests. Has to go through nightly tsmuxer first.

Alright, thanks so much. When you say mux in bluray folder you mean only when adding subtitles?

By the way, I found out that dvhe.05.06 is perfectly playable if in .mp4 through LG's Plex app. I guess this has already been talked about, but I'm happy it worked. Worked with S02E3 of The Witcher, but I supposed it's fine with others.

I mux in blu-ray folder, but m2ts works fine with sub.

Unfortunately, .mkv dvhe.05.06 doesn't work with plex.

update: solved! just convert .mkv to m2ts with tsmuxer, works fine on x700

Posting this on behalf of someone else:

Anyone have experience with Zappiti (https://www.zappiti.com) or Zidoo (https://www.zidoo.tv) players regarding DV FEL support?

Zappiti claims to have FEL support: https://www.zappiti.com/zappiti-reference-dolby-vision

But sound support is lacking https://zappiti.uservoice.com/forums/31 ... by-true-hd

Also a discussion from the Zidoo forum http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads ... ack.87108/

Seems like they can handle FEL but only utilize the RPU layer.

(Both Zappiti and Zidoo is based on Realtek RTD1619 and also found Dune HD https://www.dune-hd.com)

Or is the conclusion that Chinoppo is still the only player that properly support FEL playback?

Thanks.

this is a little off topic, but libplacebo from videolan now has dolby vision profile 5 and 8 tone mapping support (I believe). Bluray's live in the profile 7 world, but I find this interesting overall.

I believe that no one can decode FEL at the moment in MKV (oppo can decode bluray images). the ones that claim FEL support just means they don't choke on FEL.

Ugoos AM6+ has a 2nd decoder so is able to playback FEl (from dual track mp4) but it's a very buggy player.

You may want to ask yourself how many tv's support full 12 bit processing. And then yet, those 12bit colors will be downscaled within max luminance capacity of the screen. TBH, I think that nowadays tv's will not hit enough nits to even support 10 bit to its full brightness.
