Read Rate BU40N

#1 Post by ameliemopol » Thu Dec 09, 2021 12:00 pm

Hi,

new on the forum. I bought 'techPulse120 USB 3.1 Typ-C UHD 4K 3D Blu-ray Brenner DVD CD Laufwerk USB-C Aluminium Schwarz BDXL 100GB M-Disc'

I never get above 5x read speed when backing up BD or UHD BD.

I think they gave me also USB 2.0 case instead of USB 3.1 I did buy (see pic) Is this the bottleneck?

Is there any reason for me to flash it to 1.03MK?

There is another drive on its way from asmcom with 1.03MK already on it so perhaps it is better to leave this on 1.0?

Thanks for feedback.

Nah leave it on 1.00 usb 2 can do up to 8x speed so that is not what's limiting you it could be your HDD you will find out when you get your other drive and it is the same speed

it writes to SSD on iMac M1, should be fast enough. Will see once I get the asmcom drive if there is any difference. I guess 30' is reasonable for BD mkv backup with 2hour movie. Thanks

MakeMKV can use more than one optical drive at the same time. In Preferences, on the IO tab, check the box for 'Ask for single drive mode.' You can then easily start two instances of MakeMKV, point each one to a different optical drive, and rip two discs at the same time.
