New BH16NS40 From Amazon

Post by haroldg56 » Sun Dec 05, 2021 11:41 pm

I am a new member on MakeMKV and would like some help. I made the big step and decided to rip my large movie collection and go digital.

So having read the UHD guide on the forum I purchased 2 x Desktop BH16NS40 optical drives on Amazon and successfully flashed them to WH16NS60 1.02MK.

The problem is both drives give nothing but read errors even on brand new discs which I have cleaned repeatly. 5 out of 10 discs fail.

My heart is broken. Is this normal?

The drives are also dated 2019 which makes me sceptical?

Clean the discs. This usualy resolves most read errros. Also, it is good to have 2 drives but they should really be different drives on different firmware. That way, if a disc just won't read on drive #1, drive #2 (different drive/firmware) probably will. That's the way I do it anyway...
Cheers :D
