Play in official UHD software? You need an "official" UHD player, and no firmware changes. Such a player will NOT allow RIPPING UHD.

Official UHD software will not work with UHD-friendly drives (ones that can rip).

While I appreciate bargain shopping as much as the next guy, no one has yet mentioned that the mfgr date of an LG WH14NS40 matters. There are 2 HW versions & sellers rarely make a distinction... including LG. SVC NS40 drives, manufactured before ~Oct 2015 & reported by MakeMKV as "Drive platform: MT1939" will never support UHD. Hardware is too old. MakeMKV MUST report "Drive platform: MT1959". Just sayin'...

So does that mean the latest version of cyber link power DVD won't play UHD and Hdr with ought an official uhd drive?

What if I bought a uhd official drive and wanted to flash it to make/backup a UHD/HDR disk are you saying that I wouldn't be able to play and backup a UHD/HDR disk with an official UHD drive?

Sound to me like buying a LG WH16NS40 and flashing it won't allow me to bennifit from uhd and hdr In cyber link power DVD?

Yes if your doing playback direct from disc.

Then you could but your PC must meet the requirements and half the time it does not work so I recommend you just do it unofficially

Yes that's correct if you don't have a BU40N WH16NS60 or other official UHD drive you can't do official playback in power DVD.

But just do it all unofficially whit any UHD flash able drive or drive in the list.

OK but with a flashed WH16NS40 I can copy in full quality uhd hdr disk? Then play?

Is there any difference in quality when copying using DVDfab or is copy in makemkv better quality?
