I play blurays streaming them to VLC. It works great (thank you guys), but I have a little problem with subtitles.
Every subtitle line takes dozens of seconds (I don't know exactly) to disappear from screen. It is time enough to you forget the subtitle is there and then you notice the line and think someone just said that. With time you get used to it, but it is a bit annoying.
I couldn't test with Totem and Mplayer because they didn't allow me to choose subtitles.
My configuration is Ubuntu 10.10 AMD64, MakeMKV 1.6.5 and VLC 1.1.7

Re: Subtitles take too long to disappear from VLC screen
hi, it is 100% a VLC playback issue... Ask on VLC forums...
In the meantime try with a nice gui for mplayer: SMplayer.

OK. I will file a bug report there.
Unfortunately both Gnome Mplayer and SMplayer don't show subtitles.
Thanks

No need to file a bug report - the VLC folks are well aware of this - It's a work in progress...

Actually, I think I found the bug already.
https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/3648
The bad news is that its milestone is Bugs paradize which means "no definite deadline release" and thus, the work status is "not started".
