Description
My Blu-ray disk backups will not playback in English and always plays back in French. The root cause is still unknown, but I suspect it is in the Advanced - Default settings.
Issue
Root-cause is unknown but I suspect it is in the Advanced - Default settings.
The backup file ./STREAM/<filename>.m2ts file plays back in French audio-only, yet I think I am using English audio-only.

m2ts backup will only play backup in french audio yet using eng (English)
Re: m2ts backup will only play backup in french audio yet using eng (English)
The M2TS files on a BluRay miss some crucial information, like chapters and I think all meta information about languages.
Does the problem also occur when you rip the movie into a MKV via MakeMKV?

Re: m2ts backup will only play backup in french audio yet using eng (English)
Thank you so much for responding. I greatly appreciate your assistance.
Tim Allen's Santa Claus, Santa Claus 2, and Santa Claus 3, but all seem to playback in French. The Blu-ray disks came as a set, so that should probably to be expected.
Since I don't know how to make an MKV via MakeMKV, and all I know how to do is a back-up with MakeMKV. I have simply attempted to convert the decrypted m2ts using HandBrake but the Audio output is still in French rather than English. Perhaps the HandBrake Audio Codec options will give you a clue.
HandBrake
When I pull the 00800.m2ts file up in Handbrake the Audio shows Unknown for all the formats.
See screenshot below:
I hope something I have written helps, and again thank you for responding.

Blu-ray Disks TriedAnswer: I'm not sure how or what you mean since I haven't done this before. I only started learning yesterday, but when I do a playback using the MakeMKV backup file 00800.m2ts; as expected, the video is flawless, but the audio plays back in French.

Re: m2ts backup will only play backup in french audio yet using eng (English)
If you've made a backup with MakeMKV then in MakeMKV do File -> Open Files and select your backup.
viewtopic.php?t=17474
That'll open your backup in MakeMKV and allow you to make a .mkv file from the backup.
Re: m2ts backup will only play backup in french audio yet using eng (English)
<<CORRETCION BEGIN>>
HandBrake
I must apologize, I made a mistake when I claimed the conversion of the 00800.m2ts file in Handbrake was still in French. Even though the Audio shows as "Unknown" for all the formats, after looking at the converted the sound it IS in English. I think the reason it worked this last time, is that I selected Mpeg4 for the output.
<<CORRETCION END>>
Loaded the SANTA_CLAUSE_2/BDMV/index.bdmv file.
NOTE: In my case, the index.bdmv file was located here in the path SANTA_CLAUSE_2/BDMV/index.bdmv instead of the BDMV/CERTIFICATE/MAKEMKV/index.bdmv.
I am assuming that you want to see the language info for the actual movie so I opened the section below and I am posting a screenshot of that below:

Re: m2ts backup will only play backup in french audio yet using eng (English)
I am going to close out the issue because even though in playback it is in French when I convert it to an MP4 file, it has the right language.
