LG BH16NS SVC CODE:NS40 firmupdate to 1.05 and DIE

#1 Post by lrmcba » Mon Nov 08, 2021 6:41 am

Hi guys, i purchased a Blu Ray Burner in year 2016 around.. due no time i didnt use it, just burned some DVD and BLURAY and
works perfectly... for personal reasons (my father past away on 2014) i just didnt use my pc at all, sometimes.
Months ago i started to use it, but when few weeks ago i tried to burn some stuff on Blurays (SONY) the Bluray burner just fail the
verification test, there was a issue about layout and i couldnt sove then i just think on update firmware so i just go to LG and look my model and download the firmware for LG BH16NS SVC CODE:NS40 v1.05 and success, but when shutdown the pc and later power again on, the Bluray didnt read any disc anymore. I look some tutorials with makemkv, also with dosflash for bhs16ns and boot from pendrive with Win10 from tutorial. then i just follow the steps but still the Bluray can't read any disc. If someone have the same firmware that has come from LG when purchased (v1.03) and match 100% with my burner please upload and share with me to try to fix and avoid to buy a new one, i think the error i get before updatefirm when burn was bcuz the LG need to be cleaned.

Note : before make this mess imgburn recognizes my bluray like "HL-DT-BD-RE BH16NS" now recognizes like " HL-DT-BD-RE BH16NS40" dunno what i did wrong. I have connected my Bluray to SATA1 and put like IDE (the tutorials said this is necesary)

I will attach some images about my BluRay burner. PLEASE GIVE ME A HAND HELP ME!!!!! I TRIED THE TUTORIALS BUT DIDNT WORK FOR ME AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO MOVE CALIBRATION TO A FIRMWARE PLEASE UPLOAD HERE A FIRMWARE ALREADY CALIBRATED.

if you would have looked at my howto videos you would see how to move the calibration the calibration is unique to your drive most times its not a good idea to use someone's it may not work.
do you already flash your drive with a blank calibration?

i just follow the steps but in the tutorial at the end they said a last step "we must be done flashing the firm with "DE_LG_BH16NS40_1.03.BIN again inside the "User Tools" folder on the Desktop." this said the tutorial but i couldnt see this file in any place, i downloaded a lot of packages here but couldnt find this file. Also i read the tutorial for DOSFLASH Patched, but i dont know how to move calibration data and how to get im lost! im a newbie. i Think was easy bcuz already i update the firmware on a LiteOn DVD but was easy, not like this. I need step by step tutorial for idiots and sadly i cant paid for a autoflasher due where i live dolar is higher and its expensive for me. If you could help me :) i will be really happy with you. How i can get the calibration data if i just already update the firm and lost calibration? and how to move calibration data to a firmware?? sorry im trying to write the best as i can in English but my lang its Spanish.
I need a easy tutorial for noobs, i lost many times trying and trying but fail and fail and fail again... :(

Get a life and a new drive that supports UHD. That's what you want anyway as far as I understand. Your old one will never do.

If you are not interested in UHD why did you flash the drive? Makes absolutely no sense then.

Coopervid IF AT LEAST YOU READ WHAT I WROTE then u could understand.

I wrote that even when my LG BluRay Burner was purchased on 2015/2016 around i just have the pc shutdown for long time, just burned some blurays and was perfectly ok. I had been busy due bussiness and due my father past away. I just power the PC time to time and was all ok. Months ago i started again to use my pc, but now my extenal HardDisk are almost fullfilled then i need the BLURAY Burner to save stuff on BluRays (i have sony BR) but start to have issues due layout error and even when my disks are burned verify fails, my error was not clean the BLURAY laser with a clean disk. Then i just made a big error firmware update and then all goes to the trash. ¿Now you could understand?

If you are not interested in UHD and you only need a burner for burning the LG is a bad one. Get a Pioneer BD drive. The LG will work OK with 25Gb discs but it will have sincere issues with 50Gb discs and you will see that verify shows issues. Also with the Pioneer you need to burn 50Gb discs at 2x speed if you don't want to risk any data loss. 25Gb discs you can burn at full speed.

Thanks bro for the advice but where i live there are not available Pionner BD drive, i live on Argentina, our economy its a dissaster and its hard to get a one from ebay due the burocracy of the exchange type. I hope you understand, with 25gb disk im ok.
